It's really interesting to see how people either feel pretty bad for Sam or they think he's acting like a huge douche bag. XD

I vote for both! (that's kind of how I usually feel about Sam on the show, I am torn with feelings of sympathy and minor outrage so I'm actually very glad it's coming through in the fic. ha!)

I have been writing pretty purposefully to make Sam bad or almost incapable of resolving the mess he started with screwing with memories and such. His own trauma about Ben is kind of now making him even more ineffectual than usual, but I don't plan on him suddenly knowing what to do once his own smoke clears. Trust, when broken, takes a lot of time and effort to reestablish, and the bigger the fall the larger the mess. Whenever the trequel comes along I hope to get into what that did to Dean a little bit more, and Alec too... (although in my head, Alec doesn't have the same emotional dependence on Sam as Dean does.)

That the people most hurt by Sam's actions are the ones having to suck it up and carry on, hold down the fort and then feel bad about being angry seems so....wrong.

I'm glad it feels that way because that's the way I've been trying hard to play it. ♥ I have watched the show for so long Dean almost feels NORMAL in the way he takes extraordinary heaps of bullshit from his brother. It as beautiful as it is horrifying. XD And now when I read or write about that relationship it really makes me step back and look at the characters thresholds for what they consider acceptable.

It will be a challenge to write about the progression of healing without making it any more unbelievable than it already is. haha! Lucky for Sam, Dean is hard to shake...

Thanks Ginte! As always, I'm glad you are enjoying it!

Yup, I could imagine it being quite challenging to write about the Winchesters and emotional healing. *g*

Dang it, Winnie, your reply made me all thinky again! Sheesh!

Your description of canon Dean's tolerance of his family's bullshit is so straight on. It IS both beautiful and horrifying. Maybe, though, because Dean is older in your 'verse, he might handle this situation a wee bit differently? And maybe knowing that Alec loves and accepts him might also help give Dean a little added emotional stability. He's not so alone anymore, worried that angering Sam might mean abandonment. Now he has Alec (and Killer too!)

All that being said, though, I'm glad you have to fix the boys and not me! *hee* But you always manage to pull everything together so terrifically. I know whichever direction you go, it's always guaranteed to be quite a trip!

That's a very good point and what makes an AU like this kind fun to play with, the Winchesters have what they don't usually have and that's the benefit or time and perspective. Dean doesn't have to be so scared of being alone anymore, but he does have ot worry about his "marriage' ;) (his hetero-lifemate named sam)

But I'm glad you have faith in me! I'll do my best! ♥
