For Ecruteak?

Don't fall into the fake bottomless pit.

Er, well... A lot of the gyms just let you walk right on up to the leader, but Ecruteak has an invisible path over a pitch black pit!

I fell into it like five times before I got to Morty...

Were you alright afterwards? That does not sound too friendly.

Of course! It left me a little bruised and disoriented after each fall, but it wasn't anything that would slow me down in the long term.

I'll look out for them, then... what about the actual gym leader, though?

--ah! Right... Um... Morty uses ghosts, so... Bringing a ghost of your own or a dark-type works! Or at least something that knows an attack of that type.

And I should avoid bringing a normal type.

--ah. Um... It's a move certain Pokemon get that lets them hit ghosts with normal type attacks! Growlithe get it pretty early on, for example. But in that case, it would just be easier to use Bite or Crunch...

... er...

Really, if you have any high level Pokemon that know Crunch or Bite, that could easily carry you through one, maybe two of his line-up. Even though it doesn't make much sense to see them biting a ghost...

[ Hayate gets a small chuckle. ] Pokémon have never made sense according to the rules of my world.

But thank you - I'll keep that in mind.

Ah, don't mention it.

But, um... Unless you come from a world chock full of monsters right out of a RPG, the majority of the "Johto Experience" will make little to no sense!

I'm afraid the most dangerous creatures in my world are human. We don't have any fire-breathing animals in Los Angeles.
