I've been a mom for two and half weeks now. My son AJ came two weeks early on Sept 14th after I was induced (my blood pressure was too high, i was seeing spots and getting ill). If you count labor hours from when the induction started that I was in labor for about 26 hours but if you count it from when my water broke then it was only 20 hours. Nice part was I was medicated so i never felt a thing...until the end when the epidural wore off..NOT NICE! Very worth it though. AJ came out very blue with the cord against his neck..DH didn't get the chance to cut the cord but I think he was okay with that. My mom was there which was good and wierd (never thought my mom would be watching every angle of my kids birth). Bec my blood pressure was so high I had to stay in the hospital an extra day. I appreciated everything they did but good grief they expect you to do nothing but lie there and be happy. I was gettign so stir crazy. I actually walked the halls with DH a few times much to the nurses dismay. How am i supposed to recover if i can't get up and walk around. And did you know that if you have an epidural the nurses have to make sure you can use the restroom after its out? So they go with you to the restroom...with her there or not I couldn't go..yeah another catheter. At least with the epidural i didn't feel it! All in all not a bad experience..hospital food sucked but whats new.
Now our little 2.5 week old is eating like a pig and keeping us up and night. he gained almost a pound a week and grew an inch after leaving the hospital but he's still only in the 21st pecentile for his age group. He'll catch up I'm sure! If you haven't seen teh pics let me know and i'll send you the link..we haven't posted any new ones other than the hospital ones. we're too busy trying to catch up on sleep (and we already do shifts at night!).
Also thanks for all the gifts we've gotten. Benevolent Dictator onsie is one of my favorites (thanks toaster!). Once he grows into all his gifts we'll post those pics too :)
