Arietta at Montana's. I knew the bass player from a random drinking escapade a few years back. (Seriously, I was drunk and walking home along College and this group of people asked me to join them at Snek's for more drinks. Stayed there until well after last call and now I still bump into him randomly.) So far, the best show I've seen during the festival.
Then The Vibrants again at the Hideout. Something went haywire with the keys, so Dave lent them a tambourine to finish the set. Not quite the same effect, but it worked.
Burning Brides again at Elmo, and when I stopped at the merch table to buy their album (double album, coloured vinyl!), I spotted Melissa Auf Der Maur and gathered all the courage and alcohol I had in me to go say hi to her. And I got a tiny little kiss on the cheek for it. In my head, that makes Kat Von D jealous. Maybe they'll fight over me.
Back to Hideout for A Brand. I was so excited because I'd heard them describe as a mix of Bauhaus and the Dandy Warhols. They blew. We couldn't even stay for the entire set. It was embarrassingly bad. The most entertaining part was the girl dancing in front of us with her pants totally unzipped.
Back to Elmo for the Sadies. Didn't dig them so much. The alt-country vibe wasn't my thing. Then at 2am, we saw the Darlings of Chelsea. Didn't have the energy to dance, but they were pretty good.
We went back to Now Lounge for the afterparty, but I bailed really early.
Total shows so far: 13.
