"...but i'm a Fucking threat to people who do bare minimum in their jobs! I'm a threat to hierarchical planning..."

This. This exactly. For some reason the mentality of some places revolves around doing as little as possible. And if you buck against that you make everybody else look bad. And because they're in control, they kick you out and continue to live on in their slacking.

It's very, -very- unfortunate. But that's the way some places work and until the even higher-ups realize that this is what's going on (despite the fact that they are also likely doing the same thing), nothing will be done and the weak, useless, people in charge will continue to create a poor work environment.

Idunno what to say :/ You just gotta find a place that encourages free, new, thought instead of crushing it. Easier said than done!

why is it that you like it like a person who could be one of those people???

really i wasn't that free thinking. but the place is MICRO managed. What kinds of work places can you think of that would actually encourage free thought......

i can't think of any :(

I dont quite understand what you mean in the first sentence...but if it means what I think it does, yes - the IT industry is riddled with these kinds of people.

I actually encourage and try to make an environment where I work that people feel like they can do new things. I -do- make them jump through hoops to prove its the right way to do things, but i mostly just flush out the bugs - it's not a bash of the original idea. I also work just as hard as anybody else. If something needs doing, I'm there for 12 hours a day, you know?

Not to say I'm the perfect manager :P but I believe that making the team stronger is better than making myself look good, be their friend, or whatever. I demand excellence and give them the tools, thorough criticism, and encouragement to do that. *shrug*

Every kind of job has the opportunity for free thought in some way. It's whether the managers appreciate it or not. You'll make an awesome manager one day...just not for AE. The opportunity is out there. It's just gonna take more looking :)
