AirMyu is Eating My Brain.
I have been watching both versions of AirMyu too much recently (actually, I FINALLY finished watching SRR today at lunch! I never managed to get to watch the end before.), so it is stuck in my brain:
1. Patrons have been doing papers on That Scottish Play, which gave its name to Nagata Akira's character in AirMyu. Needless to say, I think of said character when I see those books, especially since I am a Bacchus fangirl. This then led me to this thought: people were wondering if AirMyu was cursed, with everything that happened to SRR (KenKen's hospitalization and Ryuji's breaking his arm during the run after he took over the role of Ikki). Now, there's a reason I didn't say Akira's character's name up there - it is generally considered bad luck, at least in the English-speaking theater world, to say that name backstage, due to many reports of mishaps and tragedy surrounding productions of it (see the section on it in main Wikipedia article on the play or this Wikipedia article on the curse). So, I have to wonder if the AirMyu cast and crew knew of this or not, and if the curse of that name is what brought misfortune down on SRR? I feel bad for poor Akira if that's the case, since it isn't HIS fault...
2. I can't decide if all things lead back to Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters or AirMyu. Here's the chain: YGO! DM (just YGO! here) features Tsuda Kenjiro as Kaiba Seto. Tsuda-san is Spitfire in AirMyu (and the Air Gear anime). YGO! DM GX (YGO! GX here) features KENN as Yuki Judai (Jaden in the US dub). KENN is Kazu in AirMyu (and the anime). YGO! 5D's (the new spinoff that starts next month in Japan) features Miyashita Yuya as Yuusei Fudou. Yuya is Puck in AirMyu. Granted, the Toei YGO! series doesn't fit in with this, but still... (shrugs) (Of course, we won't mention Tenipuri and AG connections, since there's a slew of myuboys in both myus, plus Tsuda-san. (g))
3. Fanfic bunny, based on two videos on YouTube, from backstage/offstage AirMyu idiocy: this one, of both teams, seemingly improvising morning exercises to "Sora e" (which is hysterically funny) and this one of Matsumoto Hiroya and Yonehara Kousuke, featuring Juliet!Hiroya as Spiderman. So... Romeo and Juliet playing Spiderman (with either both of them as Spidey or Juliet as Mary Jane instead), anyone?
4. Speaking of Hiroya, he was in Mahou Sentai Magiranger. So, I just had to look it up, to see which version of Power Rangers this was turned into (it is Mystic Force). Part of me almost wants to watch Mystic Force, just to see his body in the Ranger sequences, since we do have it at work. (g) Of course, I'm now itching to see some of Magiranger. (sighs)
