Two things:

1) It has been so damp in our house that I discovered mold and mushrooms growing in one of our house plants shortly before we left for Wellington. Ew ew EW. Also, it has been so cold that our supply of olive oil actually SOLIDIFIED while we were away. Our house is a refrigerator. So, today I am going to call about getting a heat pump

Yes, def a good idea. I know some people there that used to go away every year for New Year's and I'm sure still do, but... they are not nice people, so... not an option. ;)

hahaha yes, I don't want any drama from not-nice people. I did a quick search and it does seem like it's possible to find something online if no one I know can recommend anything or get us a hook-up. I'm sure we'll find something, it's New York City after all. :)
