SF Pride 07

Jun 26, 2007 16:32

2007 was the first year that the San Francisco Public Library participated in the SF Pride Parade... and Megan and I got to be in it!  Yay!  It's fun to think that we were a little part of history.  The branch bookmobile drove along with us and we handed out bookmarks and fortune cookies stuffed with the message, "Take Pride In Your Library!"

We were way on the end of the parade.  To be quite honest I think the people watching the parade were starting to get a little antsy.  One of the first things someone asked us was, "How much longer is it?"  Yeah, well, nice to see you too.  sheesh.  Although, we were being followed by the SF Taxi Commission, and I doubt they got as good a reception as we did... so it wasn't so bad I guess!  The contingent in front of us was SF Animal Care and Control.  I got this shot of one of their members before we took off.

We had a loooong time to hang out before we stepped off.  We got there around 10:45am and didn't get onto Market Street until after 1pm.  That gave us lots of time to check out the other floats and contingents lined up around us.  It was quite fun and everyone was super friendly.

Megan finally got that pony she always wanted...

Like the shirts?  We all had pastel colored t-shirts that said, "Take PRIDE in your library."  Pretty cute really.

Some more groups:

Poofy puppy pride...

Bears!  Pirates!! Bear Pirates!!!!!

The Altoids Float... curiously scantily clad dancing men.  These guys were even lifting weights and doing other various exercises on the float.

shocking!  no?  not really I guess...

There was a Latino contingent that was driving the wild Mexican superstar, Gloria Trevi.

Finally when we stepped off, we realized that we needed a chant or some music or at least a little routine!  Our group came up with this fun little pantomime...
