~~~Title: Gorgon Sister’s Tragedy~~~
~~~Prompt: Gorgon~~~

The sisters Stheno and Euryale walked and slithered respectively into the temple of their sister Medusa.  They, having heard of the defeat of the Kraken, decided to check on their sister in her temple.  Since the vile goddess Athena laid the curse upon her, she had taken up a solitary life.    They feared for her since the manner in which the Kraken fell sounded so much like her dammed power.

Euryale was the first to sense something amiss.  The smell of blood was pungent in the air.  Euryale’s comment on the matter sent Stheno to seek out the source around a pillar.  She searched for only a short time before coming across the source near the back of the temple.  There lay the headless body of Medusa.

Although they were never truly close to the third sister who was born mortal they still felt her loss deeply.  The sisters wailed their sorrows to the empty cavern walls.  They lamented the loss in saddening lyrics of pain and despair.  The gorgons used the claws they had been blessed with to open wounds of distress across their forms.  For near on two moons they mourned Medusa’s passing from the mortal coil.

On the third day Euryale spoke for the first time in a less saddened voice, “Revenge on the killer…”  Her words were misshapen and drawn out due to her boar-like tusks.  Her sister’s reply was hissed from a mouth like a snake’s, “On the man-god who does not know his place…”
