~~~~Title: The All-Mother Death~~~~
~~~~Prompt: Goddess~~~~

Once upon a time there was so many gods and goddess’ that we lost count.  We forgot a few who just slipped into nothingness or were reborn as something else.  Some choose to fade to the background rather than become what we saw them as.

One of the goddess’ that chose to change may surprise you.  The creature of death, a skeletal cloaked figure, was not always so menacing.

You see, in a time before now, death was not so feared.  It was part of life.  So the figure that took them to their next place need not represent fear to the people.  No instead she represented the cycle renewed.

She was lovely to view but it was a cold beauty.  Her hair, as long as her body nearly, reminded the people of the world just before a thaw.  Her skin shifted through the colors of a ground nearly ready to plant.  Her voice carried the gentle rolling sounds of a storm to help rejuvenate the ground.  Her eyes held the clear blue of cloudless day.  Everything about her reminded the people that she was not merely death but she was also renewal.

Her duties were to guide the souls to their next place, as it has always been, and to help start fresh life in a fertile place.  She was the cycle of life and death that walked among the people to give her blessings to us.  She was our all-mother who took care of us until the end.
