Will be in volume 2!
Hime Narration: {Today is a special day for me}
Akane, Hime’s little sister, notices that Hime is up early and in a big hurry. She stands looking worried and asks what’s going on for her to be in such a rush. Just as Hime is about to tell her curious sister, their mother, Mutsuko Kino, interrupts with nagging Akane about being late if they don’t hurry. Akane wants them both to hear what Hime has to say, but Mom assumes it’s about a useless, trivial thing and says Hime can tell them later. She tells Hime to lock the door when she leaves for school. Hime is silent as they approach the door, but breaks out in smile and waves good-bye as they leave.
Hime Narration: {It’s the day of our second noon broadcast.}
Just as it was predicted, their broadcast is a huge success. Everyone gets the chills and squeals when the 3rd dwarf says, “Because you’re our princess.” Hime is depressed that this scene was the only one throughout the performance that got that kind of reaction, but Mitchi seems not to care as long as everyone likes it.
In the hallway, students crowd around the 4 dropouts and Ume to congratulate them on the great performance. One girl is curious to know who it was who said the “princess” line. Before Hime can answer herself, another out-of-nowhere man answers his own unique matter-of-fact answer for that. It’s Producer Haruka Yamada!
Yamada: “A newbie from my office did that special performance.”
Everyone is excited to see such a popular producer among them. Hime on the other hand is petrified…or not…since the first thing she does after turning around to see him is hides behind the nearest corner and hisses at him. (Kitty-Hime is angry. Stay away^^) In Hime’s mind, this guy is the evil demon lord of the 2 AQUA boys who gave her such a hard time in the past. She also seems to remember that he said he’d never use her again after she failed his last test. At least, that’s what she thought he said.
During her hiss fit, everyone is speechless. Yamada sighs and states that she is indeed rather troublesome. He lifts his hand and grabs her head and pats it with aggravated force, glaring at her as he inquires who she learned her manners from. She begins crying out of fear. He’s terrifying to her! (XD)
He softens his grip and grins, telling her he honestly has something to tell her and asks if she’ll listen. Hime immediately assumes it is a trap but agrees to go to the appointed location anyway. Afterall, this might be a trap but she may just coincidentally come across someone who’ll hook her up with Lovely Blazers. Of course, she’s sure this won’t happen, but one can always daydream.
When she opens the door to the appointment, she sees not only Yamada, but Mizuki Haruyama and Shuuma Kawai in there. All three guys she just can’t deal with. She slams the door thinking she’s got the wrong room. If this is the right room then she was right when she thought this was a trap. Her thoughts swirl as she stands outside the door. She’s positive that this is apart of their revenge for rejecting Shuuma when he kissed her and for seeing Mizuki naked. (This happened in chapter 5.)
Shuuma opens the door, clearly annoyed with her as always. She starts spouting apologies that Shuuma doesn’t even understand and he lifts her up to take her back into the room, causing her to shriek. Mizuki, with his usual calm voice, assures Hime that she doesn’t need to be scared. Yamada really does have an offer for her.
Yamada explains that he wants her to play a guest character in a “sentaimono” series. (Note time: sentaimono is the genre that Power Rangers or the animated “Titan Maximum” would fit in) Mizuki is going to star as a new character, and the role that Hime will play will be his pet. He wants her to use her prince voice for this particular animal role.
Hime is still concerned about the fact that Yamada wouldn’t use her a 2nd time after she was disqualified last time they worked together. Yamada snickers and looks at her like she’s a hopeless idiot. He admits that things promised in this industry are often fuzzy and usually not taken seriously. He wasn’t being serious when he said he’d never use her again. This definitely shocks Hime, who thought it was hopeless.
Hime asks why he wants her of all people to do this job. He admits he put his bets on her. If she could perform the anime dub with her prince voice then he would use her again, but if she couldn’t then he’d ignore her forever. To add to it, he made sure she got more problems and assignments than anyone else just to test her. Hime claims it was totally harassment.
Yamada gives her two choice: yes or okay. She picks “okay” (^.^) Yamada turns serious, almost depressed-looking, remembering that he needs to be formal and ask her parents for permission this time. Hime is uplifted when she hears him say he’ll greet her family for this occasion. She can hardly believe that a producer like him is coming to greet her family.
When she’s gone, Yamada and AQUA speak about Hime.
Mizuki: “Hime-chan is very amusing, isn’t she? I’m not tired of her, so I’m happy about this.”
Shuuma: “She’ll probably be unable to do it right off the bat anyway.”
Yamada: “Yes. It’s all a mystery to me too. If she isn’t able to handle doing this alone then I just won’t use her again. There are many other candidates. And also, I don’t make “real promises” to anyone. Promises like, ‘Your dream will be fulfilled.’”
That night, Hime helps her mother with the dishes. She’s a little slow in getting them to her, so she calls her ‘no good’. Unphased by this, Hime is about to tell her mother about Yamada when her mother once again cuts her off saying she needs to go meet Akane. She leaves the rest of the work to Hime. As she does dishes, Hime can just see her mother praising her for being scouted by a popular producer. She’s sure her mother will be excited.
At school, Tsukino asks Hime why she seems so excited. Hime remembers Yamada telling her that she can’t tell anyone about their business. She assures Tsukino nervously that nothing is going on.
Hime finally gets the chance to tell her mother that Yamada is coming. As expected, her mother is extremely excited and agrees she’ll meet him. After all this, she’s relieved that it wasn’t a complete waste to send Hime to Hiiragi Academy. Hime basks in the fulfillment of pleasing her mother.
When Yamada comes, he gives her mother his card and formally greets her. They engage in conversation about how Hime had a job with him before. Of course, she never knew, which is why he felt he needed to get permission first thing time. He asks if he can look after Hime for her debut, which her mother happily allows.
Mom: “…By the way, what is the role that Hime has…?”
Yamada: “A cat.”
Meow.
Mom: “A cat...”
Yamada: “Also, when she’s working with me I want to hide her true appearance and not release her complete name.”
Mom: “Hide...her true appearance…?”
Mom starts laughing hysterically, making Hime worry and Yamada jump in surprise. He asks what caused her to react that way. She manages to calm down and tells him that this whole thing is unbelievable. Afterall, this is Hime. It’s not like she’s anything like Akane. Yamada has no clue who “Akane” is, which prompts her to get out various magazines and plops them on the table. On the magazine covers is Akane!
Mom: “Akane is Hime’s younger sister. Her street name is “Kinomi Akane” when she models. She’s the daughter I’m proud to have. What do you think?”
As she says all these things, Yamada observes the changes in Hime’s composure. She has completely turned her head down as if to hide anger or tears.
Mom: “Akane can do anything better than Hime.”
This last thing she says immediately sets off Yamada. He stands up and, with quite a stern look, almost glaring, tells her mother that he came to scout Hime, not hear about Akane. He grabs Hime by her arm and leaves with an adequate excuse to take her away from that place.
Hime Narration:{Today is a special day for me.}
Hime walks a good pace behind Yamada, not saying a word. Yamada looks frustrated about the situation he was in. He remembers Hime clenching her fists as she was forced to hear all that.
Yamada thoughts: [...Just great. There’s no way that she'll feel like doing this, is there...? How annoying...]
He turns his head to see her, but is completely taken aback by her unexpected giddiness, as if none of that even happened. She sees his “OMG you’re kidding me” expression and asks what’s wrong. He gives her a double side noogie, quite irritated that she’s not reacting correctly.
Yamada: “Why the hell aren’t you crying?!! Isn’t this the part when you’re supposed to get all emotional?!!”
He’s making Hime cry out of head pains now. (XD)
He stops and points out that what they just did was really foolish. She agrees that’s true, but if she does her best here then she’ll just become one step closer to her dream. She beams with a smile, which amazes Yamada. She goes on to say that if she does her best here then she’ll just keep on getting more and more roles to do her best for as well. And then when her name and voice are well known she’ll be able to be the voice of a Lovely Blazer. She asks Yamada if she’ll be able to do this. He’s caught up in her enthusiasm and almost answers that she’ll be able to fulfill her dream, but shuts his mouth reminding himself that he makes promises like that to nobody.
Hime: “...So then, surely...Mom won’t think of me as a disappointment, will she...?”
Hime’s cheerful expression is gone. She seems rather sad now. She remembers the secret promise she made with Sakura Aoyama long ago, that one day she’d help someone just as she did for her, and, just like Sakura Aoyama, become someone excellent that her mother can be proud to have.
Yamada is silent for a bit. Then he breaks the promise he made to himself countless times. He looks her in the eye and seriously assures her he’ll help.
Yamada: “I’ll...fulfill your dream. In exchange for that, you’ll fulfill my dream, too. Got it? It’s a real promise.”
Yamada and Hime make a pinky swear gesture, issuing their mutual promise with each other.
Hime Narration: {Today is a special day. It’s the day that a special promise was made.}
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So what’s in store for Hime now…? For one, she...she...some of you have seen spoilers for chapter 11. Maybe some of you haven’t…Gah! I’ll just talk about this chapter!
I expressed it before. I like HimexHaruka. I’m still concerned about the age difference though. I was talking with jinma-chan about this. Unless he’s a genius producer who started at a young age, he has to be at least 10+ years older than Hime. He’s the creator of AQUA, and AQUA has been around ever since Hime and the others were in elementary school! He’s a good father figure I guess. Though there are a few things that are still a mystery about him. Senri looked nervous when they bumped into each other in chapter 1. Why? Or am I looking deeper into it than necessary...?
May I say more about Hime’s mother? Still don’t like her. Hey! Perhaps Riko-chan won’t have to reappear afterall. Her mother makes me really angry. She’s just…so clueless. So very clueless. You have 2 wonderful daughters, you twit. How can she just say, “Akane is the daughter I’m proud to have. She can do anything better than Hime”?! Right when Hime is there!!! It’s not like Hime is into criminal stuff or completely failing school or life. She just doesn’t know Hime at all, does she? This didn’t just start when Akane started modeling. Apparently she was always scolding Hime for not living up to her name, which means “princess”. She seems to have chosen to give up on Hime at this point. Heh! She’s in for a rude awakening soon.
As for Tsudere-san, he appears in the next chapter on a poster. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!
