There's actually too much happening for me to say, so I will summarize very quickly in list form:
- I got a job! It's more writing than translating this time, but it sounds like it'll be fun. The interviewing process was very quick, so I'm still kinda boggling over it all and rushing to get things done, but hurray! Work!
- I went to China! With my mommy. We went to Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai, we ate tons of food, we saw lots of amazing sights, we managed to get sick on our last day (lol), but it was great fun. Glad I went!
- I saw Cirque du Soleil's Zed, again! I went with Mommy this time. I didn't think it was quite as good as the time that I went with Mako-chan on New Year's Eve (due to the fact that it was a weeknight and that it was a rather cold and rainy day, the theater was only half-filled, and besides, the female singer apparently took the night off), but it was still fantastic. The best part was that Mommy had apparently never been to a Cirque show before (and considering how many times I've been, I was shocked), and it was great to see her reaction. (There was a lot of "Did you see that!? Isn't that amazing!?")
- I saw some awesome movies!
- District 9. It was simply fantastic. I spent some time with my eyes covered in an attempt to avoid seeing medical ickiness, but otherwise, I loved it. Fantastic movie!
- Once. Again, great movie. I loved watching it; I fell in love with one of the songs before it even started when he said "5/4 time". @_@ Highly recommended! (Also, kudos to the guy at Tsutaya who helped me find it after I forgot the title... there was a lot of me going, "There's the couple? And they sing? In the place? With the stuff?")
- Young@Heart. This was a great little documentary about a senior citizen choir (average age: 80) that performs everything from blues to punk. It makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it's pretty awesome.
- I got NieR Replicant! Mainly because I was so excited about the soundtrack. (lol) Seriously, the soundtrack is phenomenal, and I'm totally loving it.
- Great one-liner (c/o Young@Heart): An old man discusses the secret of his 54 year marriage with his wife. He says, "We went out for dinner and dancing twice a week. She went Tuesdays and I went Thursdays."
- Great story from my youngest niece (age 3): My sister had just taught her daughters about April Fool's day. She played a little trick on the older girl. Pleased, the older girl played a little trick on her dad. So the younger girl decided to get in on the fun by playing a trick on my sister, and the conversation went like this:
Niece: Mommy, you can't go in my room.
My Sister: Why not?
Niece: Because it's messy, and if you see it, you'll get mad.
My Sister: [playing along] Oh no! It's messy? Oh, I'm so upset!
Niece: ..... HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
Well, she was close...
