As much as I'm excited about the DVD, I'm also feeling quite annoyed after watching the DVD version of the concert. It does indeed, made me feel lucky that I've been able to make it to this year's Osaka live concert, and unexpectedly having it on DVD. I was actually expecting them to film the Tokyo Dome concert instead of Osaka despite it being the last one.
Live Vs DVD
No doubt that watching it live is always the best, but dvd is a great option for those who can't make it. However, if I haven't attended the concert in person, I probably wouldn't say I'm 100% satisfied with the concert based on a few reasons.
If you compare it to BTR or CK KT II concert DVDs, it's quite obvious that this one seemed a lot more rushed. I'm sure there are clips that have been cut off the two dvds, i.e, Maru's bungee jump but this one was edited to the point I felt like everything went by in a flash when it actually lasted for a whole 3 1/2 + hours.
Gold was one of the songs where the technical problems were quite obvious, but I didn't really notice that there were technical problems during Lips to the point it has to be cut so abruptly. Cut things short, it was such a shame to have that much cut off because quite a lot of interesting bits were during those three songs.
Aside from the cut, they've completely taken the second encore, Going! off as well. I'm aware that this year's concert has much more skits and member performances but I can't hide my disappointment that so much was being cut off. I can understand that if Kisumai's performances aren't featured in the DVD since they're not the main performers, but if they could do it last year, why not this year? Not a really big problem really.
Camera Works
In the ment part, Kame did mentioned that they had more cameras filming this time, 32 cameras if I'm not mistaken. The camera works were actually quite alright and well done, except for one performance, Rabbit or Wolf. The way the camera swayed and the way the clip is being edited makes me dizzy.
Nonetheless, the overall camera work was really good!
Rant over, time to rave!
First things first, the boys were amazing vocal wise! :D :D
A few of my favourite performances, Rescue & Smile. I think I was too absorbed at that moment to actually focus properly during the live and it wasn't until I watched the DVD and realised how AMAZING Rescue sounded. That was one of the few performances where Kame was actually performing at his best, not that he doesn't usually but this was exceptionally amazing. In my opinion, the highlight was how he ended Rescue, nice and crisp with vibrato :)
Smile - No words can describe how amazing this song sounds live! I really liked the fact that there were quite a lot of audience interaction and this is one of those where the boys and fans were at their best. The Lalala part = unbeatable fun and amazinggggg.
We Are KAT-TUN - this part is one of my favourite moments! The feeling is just amazing? After all that they've been through, they've managed to prove that they're getting better and with the fans' support, they'll be able to go further. The camera work was really nicely done as well! A bit off topic but I find it funny when my mum looked so lost when I asked her to link her hands with the person next to her. She was like, what happened, why are we linking hands?! XD
Harukana Yakusoku - Noticed how everyone seriously started shouting on top of our lungs. I think people weren't expecting for another encore, cause quite a handful of people around me started packing their uchiwas up. When Kame said bye bye, everyone literally went "IADA". I think i was flailing with my arms while shouting iada lol.
Ending - Before Koki went backstage, he said something which I'm sure, all fans are happy to hear. " Koki : Will hyphen always be here? Fans response : YES! Koki : Then KAT-TUN will always be here!"
I wouldn't trade anything for this experience! It was so fun and I really treasure it, not to mention, a dvd to remind me of what happened :P I don't think their tour schedule will match with mine next year, so yeah. I do really hope to go though! They will have gotten even better by then, judging by the concert and the recent performances of Change Ur World. I feel like such a proud fan, seeing them improve and not fazed by Jin's departure from the group!
All the best to them next year! <3
Note : If anyone's actually wondering whether it's worth it to see them live, it is! I scrimped and saved for 3 months before I could afford this trip but without a doubt, I would say it's so worth it! Good luck to anyone saving to see them next year!
If anyone's interested to know what was left out or what happened during the songs that were being trimmed, check out my fan report here :
