hooray for summer in march!
so for the past week we've been going around grumbling, "lousy smarch weather." for example, on friday it rained 1.7 inches.
but all of a sudden, yesterday and today were GORGEOUS! our friends from vancouver (washington, not BC) came down to visit, we made yummy hawaiian pancakes, played with the cats and goats, made tasty black bean fritters and jalapeño poppers, played in the tidepools & walked on the beach, made delicious vegetable-and-tofu massaman curry, drank many beers, played cards, ate brownies and ice cream, watched movies, and laughed a LOT.
then today, they borrowed a canoe from the house at which i am goat/cat/chicken sitting and we took out our brand new kayak! the boy got it for me for christmas, it's an inflatable one, but a good inflatable one, not the crappy sevlor inflatable-raft style kayak you might have taken camping as a kid. it was so fun paddling around the slough, and it was warm enough that we were wearing t-shirts and shorts, completely summer weather. then we came home and had sushi and iced tea.
it was such a fun weekend, and the weather couldn't possibly have been better. it's so great when things go nicely! i think i laughed more this weekend than i have for a long time, friends are the best!
