weddings and work
this weekend was nice, we went up to portland for my friend's wedding. friday we went out for the boy's birthday, though i feel bad because only one friend came with us, and i didn't have any present or cake or anything for him. but he didn't seem to want to have anything to do with his birthday anyway. he feels old now, i guess, at a quarter-century. meh.
saturday afternoon was the wedding, at a church in the suburbs. then more than 2 hours later the reception began at a hotel downtown. we killed time by buying an angel food cake pan, a cheese knife, and some delicious whole foods pizza and then hanging out in a hotel room with some of our other friends. the reception had some damn good food (including a "palate cleanser" between the salad and main course of little scoops of lemon, coconut and lime sorbet, yum!). the dj was also surprisingly good. victoria was nervous about giving a toast and drank too much wine and was later sick, and i took care of her. she (and other people) kept thanking me for attending to her- she's my best friend, what else am i to do, leave her to puke in a restroom by herself? no way!
i had to work on monday, but it turned out to be awesome, because the weather was GORGEOUS and the tidepools were really cool, and one group i spent a lot of time with complimented me to one of the rangers who mentioned it in front of my supervisor and the interpretive ranger. yay! today was also gorgeous, and i had 65 first graders out in the tidepools along with a horde of chaperones. it was great!
tomorrow my boss has decided he is going to shadow me in the tidepools, half to see how i interact with guests (though i really doubt there will be any, especially since it is supposed to rain, and it's a wednesday during school) and half because he's never seen the tidepools himself.
thursday is our first anniversary. we were in italy a year ago!
so in general, life is pretty spiffing right now.
