Wow, excellent sized baby! Please pass on our congrats to Uncle Scott & Papa Frank won't you Auntie Amy? :D
Try Vancouver area stores for the chains. There's been no such chains-mandate in WA so perhaps the WA stores haven't had a run on them yet. If you have already tried that..... I'm out. I'd mail you a box of chains from Spokane, but oy, the shipping!! ;)
Winters like these are so unusual based on past experiences, but perhaps they are the "new normal?" Thanks a lot, climate change!!
You really can't go ANYWHERE without chains? Is everyone just staying home? Has everyone been stuck in their houses all week? That's crazy! How can they enforce that?
At the moment, it's chains 'recommended' for Metro area streets but 'required' on all ODOT roads ie. the freeways. If you have studded tires or AWD, you're good.
Basically, yes, it's leaving a big chunk of us housebound and yes, it's crazy. We went for a walk yesterday and I counted exactly 2 sedans out without chains. All the rest were 4wds or chained vehicles.
Apparently if you get caught, they can fine you, but if you get in an accident without chains when they're required, you get a reckless driving charge.
Still, they're apparently reassessing the situation right now(clear day, roads ploughed), so with another cold front due in tonight, if we don't get out today, we won't get out at all.
Problem is, even if you can FIND a store with chains, how on earth do you REACH it? If you're stuck at home with no chains, the first places you're going to look are the ones you can walk to. We have done that.
If a store over on NE has chains.... doesn't do us over in the SW a helluva lot of good.

As soon as the chains rule is lifted, we are outta here.
Still, the porch light has proven its ability to keep hummer feeders from freezing, so our little bird will have food while we're gone.

We're not used to this and ODOT doesn't have an entire army of ploughs to keep the roads clear, just enough for the freeways and main roads.
Also, they mentioned that a shipment of de-icer has been delayed in arriving.
We don't salt here. Not green enough.
