Fic: Soliloquy Rated: PG Summary: Snape is asked a question. HBP spoilers Beta'd by Hobbit_Tabby and goes along with the picture I just posted, though either could stand alone.
You could easily add a line or two about how his lover might/might not appreciate his need for solitude because...& fill in a brief detail of how "he" was never left alone by his zealous Gryffindor friends/was neglected by his relatives-something like that. You wouldn't need to use any names, but it would be more clear that it was Severus/Harry, if you wanted.
I know I *could* and I thought of it. But I like the ambiguity of it currently. I know if I had gone through the entire fic and then at the end someone sprung on me that it was someone other than who I was thinking of, it would bug me. Thank you for reading!
My comment was simply to show that it didn't have to be any more lines put in the try to hint to the character as one person commented :)
But i do like your story as is and yes, readers can decide for themselves who the person is, and i have actually had stories that i have spent thinking it is someone else and it turns out to be this person. And it does somehow spoil the effect.
It's good the way it is.abraxisdragonAugust 6 2005, 00:12:29 UTC
I don't think that you should add to it. This way it works for everyone. I, of course absolutely know that it is Harry but every reader can be just as absolutely sure that it is their favorite pairing, too.
I adore the 'bath as cauldron' imagery. Very inventive and so absolutely 'Severus'.

Thanks. That's kind of what I was thinking. I don't really read anything where Snape is with anyone else, so it's obvious to me it's talking about Harry.
Thanks! Someone reviewed it on another site and said they love the idea of a woman holding Snape through the night. I just smiled and nodded. ;) Oh well. Anyhow, I'm glad you liked it.

"Severus, I would never dream of interrupting your bath."
"Then yes. Yes, I will marry you, Harry."
