My Grandma has this gorgeous grand piano which is probably the only reason why I would ever look forward to visiting her in Old Lyme. That sounds horrible, but it's also the truth. I am allergic to that house - the beds have no dust covers and I have a severe dust mite allergy, and so if we spend the night I end up sick. She does have a nice piano though. Towards the end of the annual family picnic after most relatives had left, I started to play, and a page into
Chopin's Nocturne I noticed that my grandma had evidently left the bridge game in the other room to surreptitiously check to see who was playing . I don't think she realized I'm any good.
For the record, I can only play until the 2 minute mark on that piece (first two pages). Still working out the rest.
But I really want to play for people now. I got really excited last spring when we had class at Deb's house and she had a keyboard, only I couldn't figure out how to turn it on. (The 'on' button did nothing). Other people seem to buy pianos for decoration rather than use. In the event that I ever do discover a usable piano I am prepared - I have a few pieces that I have practiced enough to play without music and I can work out the chords to most folk songs.
