Hnnnnngh.
Do you honestly expect me to write a coherent review after that?
GUHHH! PETER, WHY ARE YOU SO HOT?
Ahem, so that this is out of the way:
The Wonder Twin's story line is picking up slowly, now we have an idea how both of their powers work. I'm marginally more interested in their characters but overall, it's the story arc I'm most indifferent about so far. Perhaps it's because we had the dangerous power threatening other characters thing with Niki/Jessica and Ted already, the only difference is her brother being able to neutralize her. But it's a safe bet that Alejandro is toast.
The historic triangle has won me over simply because Hiro is just so freaking adorable. He has already taken the first step to become the Kensei of the Legends while we learn that the other Kensei can heal. That's the second recurrent power on the show so far and does nothing to clear Kensei as one of the suspects for Kaito's murder. Now that I'm warming up to him, I'm already a little sad to see this quirky character possibly turning evil. Slightly related: Do we have to expect a deer popping up in NYC and chasing Ando every minute now?
The healing power brings us to Claire and boy, do I love that she is rebelling against Noah's restraints and wants to find out the limits to her power and help other people. She has taken a big step from the teenager who tested herself and for mostly that reason alone pulled the guy in the pilot out of the burning wreck to genuinely wanting to help people. I can do without having to watch regrowing toes, though, Clairebear! Ew.
Also, I still like West but am slowly turning against the theory that he is a company spy assigned to check on her. He seems too excited by the prospect of finally finding someone of his own kind. Or he is a really good actor.
HRG still has a plan and is the master mind behind everything. After Mr. Muggles that is. I must admit, they fooled me. I totally thought Bennet hid the Haitian from Mohinder and they pwnd him but on second viewing and seeing other people's reactions it's more likely that it was all part of the plan. Mohinder's phone relationship with Mr. Bennet also continues to amuse me. "You're working late" Why do you care, Mohinder? Hmmmm?
But now that the Haitian is back with Noah, I'm starting to fear for the Bennets again. HRG should never have the power (or alliance of someone who does) to wipe memories. And there I was so relieved to see Sandra standing up to him and making him reveal some of his plans to her.
Another thought: If Mohinder or better his blood really is the only available cure for the spreading Heroes disease, wouldn't it be smarter to keep him safe instead of, you know, infiltrating the Company and risking his life on every turn?
Petrellis
I'm totally becoming an Angela fangirl in my old days thanks to Christine Rose. She is so fantastic in this role and her "interrogation" scenes with Matt was one of the highlights. So, is Hiro a Petrelli or Peter a Nakamura? *g*
The way we saw her getting attacked seems to rule out Kensei as the potential killer. It looked like either someone invisible or like
wee_warrior and
cadesama already suspected someone using hallucinations/visions/illusions. Her injuries looked pretty self-inflicted.
Nice touch that we see Nathan pulling himself together when he needs to bail a family member out of prison. He seemed more like his old self when he comforted Angela than in any other scene with him we have seen so far.
I still don't get why Matt and/or Mohinder didn't use Molly to find Peter when they saw that Nathan survived. NBC also keeps confusing me with their episode stills.
This is supposed to be a still for Lizards. I guess it has either been cut from this episode or they are going to show it next week because other stills showed Niki and Micah and we haven't seen them so far.
Okay, what's left? Right, PETER.
...
BOO for the conveniently placed BLUE FLANNEL SHIRT! Seriously.
Anyway, we meet Peter's new potential love interest Caitlin and see Peter instantly bonding with her over a sponge bath and being a younger sibling. That longing look on his face when he watched her interacting with her brother can be interpreted in many different ways. *g* He also seems to know that he is not a thief and his nursing nature kicks in instinctively like his powers and the urge to rescue other people. As much as bad ass Peter smacking the bad guys around kicked ass, the entire scene reminded me too much of Supernatural both in tone and regarding the whole damsel in mistress issue. On the upside: he has 100 times more chemistry with Caitlin in those short scenes than he had with Simone in all their scenes combined.
Naturally people are already whining why Peter didn't overpower Ricky to get at that box. I think it's very in character that he doesn't want to be the cause for some bloody Irish gang feud and leave before setting things somewhat right. Or you know, that's the biased Peter fangirl in me talking. And he has already the hots for Caitlin.
Overall, I'm a bit undecided what to think of Peter's story line. I like the Irish gang okay and could easily fall in love with Caitlin but I'm a bit anxious that they are totally cutting Peter off from the other story lines. That's probably one of the reasons I have a hard time getting into Maya's story, same for Hiro's adventures in the past. Now, I'm usually happy whenever Peter pops up on screen but I would prefer him interacting with the other characters soon again. He was after all the core of the first season, the uniting entitiy. Let's hope his story line is somehow connected to the big mythical arc of Volume 2.
Now, I'm off to check what you all have written! :D
