I'm still catching up with the 2938457 reviews and other parts of my flist and I feel that everything important has already been said.
So I'll just state two unpopular opinions, my favorite crazy theories and provide visual evidence for something we wondered about.
Unpopular opinions:
I like West.
90% of the fandom seems to be creeped out by him but I thought he pulled off being annoying and charming at the same time. Perhaps I'm just smitten with the lovely music theme they gave him while he spied on Claire hoovering outside her window. It's so playful and Peter Pan like that I didn't find that scene as creepy as the majority of fandom. It's also about time Claire gets to interact with people her age again.
I'm not yet in love with Kensei. Also in a minority here, I know but I will give him time to win me over.
There are already many crazy theories about the identity of Kaito's killer and what happened to Peter in those four months.
Favorite killer theory: Kensei
Kaito recognized the killer and I'm betting it's a character we know because that reveal will have the biggest dramatic effect. The youthful appearance of the killer speaks against him being one of the elder generation unless he is immortal. Sylar is much taller than the hoodie killer and I doubt that Kaito would react to him that way. Other characters who could survive such a fall due to their powers and who Kaito knows are Hiro, Nathan and Peter. They won't let Hiro kill his own father but I have seen mind-controlled/brainwashed Petrellis speculation and that's a possibility although it would be awfully dark and cruel as well. I'm intrigued.
Favorite Peter amnesia theories:
He erased his memory himself (after meeting the Haitian) so he would be powerless and not in danger to hurt people or he struck a deal with someone in exchange for Nathan's healing. But he was probably just fished out of the ocean and mind-wiped by other powered people/the Company. The thing that speaks against an involvement of the Haitian is that I doubt Peter's amnesia is permanent.
Petrellis
I have to admit that I was spoiled a little because I simply couldn't help myself seeing all those reviews on my flist. So I knew that Nathan was living in Peter's apartment and yet the actual scenes with Nathan floored me. Partly because Adrian is such an intense actor that the way he delivered his lines gave me chills and partly because I just couldn't believe how far Nathan had fallen after Peter went missing. I'm still a bit shocked. But I loved that he is still in contact with Claire and the phone call scene ranges pretty high on my favorite episode moments.
Anyway, there seemed so be some debate whether he is wearing Peter's clothes on top of being a drunken mess who has alienated everyone he knows including his own family and who lives now in Peter's apartment. If you look at these screencaps, you will see that he is definitely wearing the coat Peter wore in the pilot.
I'm not a psychologist but I wonder if it has any significance that from all the coats and jackets Peter owns Nathan is wearing the coat his brother wore the first time they flew together and/or when he was actually able to save his life....
But even for the co-dependent, fucked-up Petrellis this is a bit much. I'm afraid someone is messing with Nathan. Someone also wants us to believe there is a connection to Kaito and Angela receiving their death photographs because he was in close proximity to where the pictures were found.
Looking at this cap from the pilot it's shocking how much both of them changed.
They look like completely different persons.
Now I need something less depressing. Remember
this? There is an even goofier version out there.
