I met Alter Wiener a few weeks ago because he speaks frequently at local schools, and was scheduled to speak at my husband's school. I now know about his work with the Oregon Holocaust Resource Center, and that he loves to play (and win) Scrabble. He's written a book called From a Name to a Number.

"the right thing to do" is to give the adorable kitten (if we can't find the owners) to our friends whose cat just died. the new cat is eerily similar to their cat.

yeah, i think we're going to do that.

Found a kitten in the garage. She belongs to someone, but their phone isn't picking up. Can't say I'm terribly sad to have a purring cat in my lap this morning, but I will keep calling until I can get ahold of them.
