"Red wine? Sure." He turns away to locate a bottle with the proper color liquid inside, uncorks and lets it breathe for a moment, then pours not quite a full glass and sets it before the older woman.

"Here, ma'am. Enjoy."

"Thank you, now what's your name? You remind me of some of my nephews,"

That's mainly the muscles as her family has a habit of creating strong and at times handsome men.

"Steven, but most call me Steve."

Big, strapping nephews. Of course.

"Are they fighting?"

"It depends on the nephew, but they are good at finding trouble. Are you a soldier? I'm Demeter."

"Yes, ma'am. United States Army." Technically a captain, too.

"Which war are you involved in?"

[captained]

"We're fighting against a man named Adolf Hitler and his allies, ma'am." He keeps an eye on her drink in case she wants a refill.

"Oh that war, that's one of the worst ones. It's brave of you to fight,"

She's taking her time with it.

[captained]

"Everyone's doing what they can to support the effort."

He's just going to remain mum on the 'not actually fighting' part.

"Yes, wars bring people together though I do wish there weren't so many of them."

[captained]

"When it's a good thing, sure. But sometimes those people get together and make not so nice choices."

[wheatencrown]

"I agree, but I've seen wars encouraged and so many lives get hurt."

[captained]

"Maybe someday there won't be." Steve would really like to believe that, even if he doesn't think it'll be in his lifetime.

[wheatencrown]

"I'd hope so but I fear some of my brothers would work against it,"

They do enjoy war.

"I feel sorry for them, then."
