Ult. Ben Grimm - Outback and all around

Oct 13, 2011 15:10

[ Right before this.]

If you happen to be outside near the bar,  things are about to get interesting as the ground shakes and then explodes as a giant robot lion bursts forth from the ground. It sails through the air and lands smoothly near the lake before breaking into a run that takes it to the mountains and then back around the lake.

Hours later, ( Read more... )

When the lion appears, Sam hears it and then comes out of the forge and almost runs after it.

Then waits to see what happens, its beautiful and the scale is wonderful and he wants to make one.

When Ben finally emerges, Sameth comes over and beams at him,

"How does it work? Did you make it?"

"No clue," Ben calls down as he waves. "And no I didn't make but it flies...err well pilots like a dream." The lion does fly Ben is pretty sure he remembers that part but it does so much more.

"You wanna come up? I think there's room in the cockpit."

"I can? thank you,"

Sam's in a medieval outfit with his sleeves rolled up so the burns on his wrists are showing as he climbs up.

Ben had ducked into the cockpit when he heard the offer accepted and popped back up holding a rope ladder only to find Sameth climbing. Good thing the Voltron has so many hand holds. When Sameth is within reach Ben will offer him a hand up.

Its a little tricky to climb but Sam's pretty agile and grabs Ben's hand,

"I'm Sameth."

"Ben," he replies and pulls Sameth up. Idly he wonders about exposing a primitive culture to future technology but then remembers where they are. "I'll be honest, I don't know a lot of technical stuff about this here lion. See I used to watch the show called Voltron and robots like these were the central plot device. The controls are pretty simple...if you're used to airplanes and the like."

"I've seen things like it but never this big before. I build clockwork automatons powered with clockwork and the Charter, that's the magic of my world. So whoever built this just let you drive it?"

"Well not exactly," Ben says a little sheepishly. "I found it in the garage and was checking it out and accidentally turned it on." He catches sight of the hole then and pales a bit.

"Oh man, I gotta fix that."

"Oh, I can help with that. I once fixed a hole in the floor of the Bar. What kind of garage has robots sitting in it?"

"You know you're in a multidimensional bar right?" Ben offers with a heavy dose of sarcasm. "And that'd be great as I'm sure it will take more than just filling the hole with dirt. Here let me get out of the way so you can take the seat."

"Yes, but I thought it might have been from your world."

"Oh no, sorry. We did have a TV show that had them but never the actual robots." Briefly Ben wonders if he should explain TVs but decides not to since Sameth seems to know what robots are.

"Don't turn that key unless we're both strapped in. I'm pretty sure it only functions when the key is in the proper place."

Sam knows what TV is but its not something he watched that much here,

"That would make sense as that's how most autos work."

"I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but your world must be really interesting. Unless you came from a Ren Faire?"

"It can be. I'm from a place called the Old Kingdom which is kind of old fashioned compared to many worlds here but went to school in a country called Ancelstierre that's I guess you could say more modern. Its hard to explain."

Ben just offers a big grin.

"We're sitting in a robotic lion from a TV show on my world and I used to have stone skin. I live 'hard to explain'. Sounds like it could be a fun place to visit. Any dragons or anything like that?"
