The sky is dark without a moon and only the stars glimmer give a tiny bit of light casting the world into shadows and more shadows. The lake glistens like a mirror reflecting the stars and near the edge was the Fool. He's gotten a bonfire going and is standing besides it watching the flames flicker ( Read more... )

Hey, it's a bonfire! Really, there's almost no better way to draw Axel out.

"Yo," he greets, as he approaches.

The Fool glances over at him and smiles. "Hello," he says to the new person he's never seen before.

"Nice fire." It's a cheerful comment, and Axel grins as he says it.

"It's a fairly nice one, I've no special talent with them though," he says as if making fires were some specialized art form.

"What is this that you are cooking? Tofu?" She sniffs at the bag of marshmallows.

She can be unintentionally stealthy sometimes.

He jumps slightly at her sudden appearance. "Oh, hello again!" the Fool smiles at her. "What's Tofu?"

"Some tasteless, bland foodstuff used to attract Penance creatures. I think it is made of some type of bean." She picks out a marshmallow and comments, "but this smells of sugar... And is squishy."

"Penance creatures?"

He takes a marshmallow and sticks it onto a stick before sticking it into the fire. There's a lot of sticking going on there. "It's a marshmallow. They're practically pure sugar."

Not seeking to interrupt the song, a very white cat pads over to the Fool and settles at his feet.

Well, on his feet, but the idea is the same.

In the flickering firelight, his shadow is not always that of a cat.

Why sit at feet when you can sit on feet?

Unfortunately, sitting on the Fool's feet may not be such a good idea. The legs are a bit crooked, or at least one of them are. He steadies himself with his walking stick as he sings.

There are two shadows now that flicker in the light but aren't of what they look like they belong to. The Fool's occasionally just looks like tree branches in the wind.

"Hello not-cat," he says when he finishes.

"Hello, Alexander, the Fool," answers the not'cat comfortably, rubbing his cheek against a toe.

He crouches down to scratch the not'cat behind the ears.

"I'm afraid I have naught to give you."

There's a bit of a smile on his face as he says that. Mogget is the only one here, besides Demeter who has called him Alexander.
