There's a Guildmaster who looks very, very happy about tonight's special. And her son, who had a fever a while ago, looks much healthier and happy himself.

He sits in his mother's lap, grey eyes and dark, curly hair peeking over the top of the bar as little fingers reach for the bowl. Mia stops him before he can take any or upset the bowl.

"Oh, I love Every-Flavour Beans," Mia says with some excitement. "I would crave certain flavors of them when I was expecting him. And it was about the only way I could sneak some of my cravings by my husband."

Who still had to deal with her cravings for garlic-seasoned grog loaf sandwiches.

She picks through the bowl and chooses dark purple, dark brown, a lighter brown, pink, and orange.

"Can I do it twice and get a free drink for him as well? I don't think Cepheus can handle chewing well enough for me to let him have any."

"Mamaaaa," the baby whines at not being allowed the sweets.

Lily frowns.

That doesn't seem quite fair, somehow.

"I bet we could find him something else," she says, instead.

"What does he like?"

"Chocolate. He likes that plenty and I'm fine with him having a little."

She smiles at Lily's consideration before popping the purple bean into her mouth.

"Just what I was hoping for," she comments. "Eggplant."

"Egg-pant?" Cepheus parrots back curiously. "Egg-pant?"

"You'll be able to have all the eggplant you want when you're bigger, sweetie. You're getting a little chocolate treat for now."

"Tee now?" the baby asks this time.

Mia just smiles, resisting the urge to excessively coo at Cepheus. Somehow, the inquisitive tone he puts on nearly everything he says is just the cutest possible thing.

"Eggplant? Really?"

Lily rummages around behind the bar and comes up with three foil-wrapped chocolate kisses.

"Will these work?" she asks.

"Yes. It is a good flavour. More like the sort of thing I craved when I was pregnant."

She tries the dark brown one next and, while still content, finds it wasn't what she was looking for.

"The chocolate pudding one is pretty good, too."

Mia then moves to take the kisses, making sure Cepheus doesn't reach to put the whole thing wrapper and all into his mouth. She unwraps one and gives it to him. It doesn't take long before he's got it melty and all over his smiling lips.

"What do we say?" Mia asks the baby.

"Wha-say?" he repeats.

"Ta."

"Ta," he says back, his mouth somewhat muffled from chocolate and fingers.

"Good job," Mia tells him before the next bean, the light brown one, goes into her mouth.

And she pulls a face.

"I don't think anything will make me fond of earwax, though."

"You're welcome," Lily says to Cephues.

"Oh, I've only ever heard rumors about the earwax ones. People who know someone who knows someone who got one once. Did you really?"

"I'm fairly certain it was. It didn't really taste like anything else but earwax."

Next up is the pink one.

"This just tastes like pure sugar. Pure sugar and pink."

Which is the best that Mia can describe cotton candy without actually eating it.

Cepheus reaches for another kiss while his mother looks at the orange bean she has left, wondering what flavour it will yield.

"Candy floss, maybe," Lily says. "Pure sugar and pink ... that's pretty much all it can be.

"It's, well, it's spun sugar and coloring."

"That would explain it."

Cepheus gets his hands on a kiss and Mia just manages to catch it.

"Hold on, you don't need to eat the wrapper," she tells him, taking the wrapper off for him.

The orange bean then goes into her mouth.

"Tangerine," she muses. "And I think, for my free drink, I'd like a glass of apple juice. And some milk in a sippy cup for Cepheus."

"Coming up," Lily says.

Though it's going to take some rummaging to figure out where the sippy cups are.

"Have you been all right?"

"Oh sure. Better than recently, though. Poor Cepheus had a fever a little while ago. Paired with his nude phase, he was a little handful for a couple of days."

She strokes her fingers through Cepheus's hair.

"Mama stayed home an extra day to watch her little boy, didn't she?" she asks the baby.

"Mama say?" he replies.

"Mmm-hmm. Daddy had to go to school for her instead and proctor a test."

"Well, I'm glad he's feeling better, then."

Lily locates the sippy cups, and a moment later, sets both milk and apple juice on the bar.

"We're all pretty glad about that," Mia says.

Then, with a quiet, "Thank you," she hands Cepheus his sippy cup and takes her own juice.

"How have you been, Lily?"

"Good, thanks.

"Home for the summer, for the rest of the month, anyway.

"It's nice to see my parents."

"Oh? What have you been doing with them?"

Mia takes a moment to carefully clean Cepheus's hands one at a time while he's occupied with drinking his milk.

"Nothing all that special, I guess," Lily says. "It's just nice to be home with them for a while, you know?"

It's not how she spends most of the year.
