(OOM: A change of scenery can be nice. Of course, it can also lead to a... Deeper change of scenery.)

The door opens and a massive bipedal... Being walks into Milliways, stopping short as the door slams shut behind him. Okay, this is -not- the garage deck of the Normandy. Faster than one would expect from a being that must weigh well over a ton in ( Read more... )

Wrex will understand if at least one person reacts to his announcement by getting a table between the two of them, yes?

Look it isn't like the table would actually stop anything, but it makes misses more likely and that's good. If Wrex is going to shoot anyone that is.

The movements of the huge being are extremely quick and smooth for someone his size. The gun is levelled at the table.

"You, human. You're as good as any to start explaining."

"It's not my fault!" says the table. Or Ako, whichever.

"This is Milliways. Please don't shoot me?"

"If I shoot you, you can't explain. For example, -what- is Milliways?" The voice remains calm, matter-of-factly. It's unsettling the way he talks about shooting people like it's the most normal thing ever.

It is unsettling. That said Ako meets a lot of people like that here. Her narration is a bad person.

"It's mostly a bar but there are things out back; mountains and the lake," she says, "We're at the end of the universe, or that's what everyone says."

"You do realize everything you're saying is nonsense, don't you?" The gun stays trained on the table, but Wrex almost seems to be less inclined to shoot.

"It's not my fault!" wails Ako, "I spent most of the last week the wrong gender. Being at the end of the universe is the easy part."

Wrex tilts his head slightly to one side, focusing one blood-red eye on the table Ako is hiding behind. "Hm. Didn't know humans could do that."

"We can't," says Ako, "T-things are different here. For everyone."

"Just, pl-please put the gun away and I'll explain the rules and where things are, and some of the common problems?"

"Problems?" Wrex doesn't sound too pleased. He doesn't -look- too pleased, either, but that seems to be more or less his usual look.

"What problems?" The gun is lowered, but the hell is he going to put it away for now.

"W-well the door goes away sometimes for people," says Ako, "That's called being Bound."

"And then there's the holidays, b-but you should probably get the rules first."

Wrex throws a quick look towards the door, keeping Ako's hiding place in his peripheral vision... Just in case. Then he returns his full attention to the talking table. He is used to interrogating panicked people, but even considering that, Ako isn't being exactly impressive.

"Rules. That sounds important. Explain them."

There are people who can headbutt a Krogan to make a point. Ako is not one of them.

"There are three rules. The first is no violence except in self defense. There are spaces out back if everyone agree. The second is no grudges. What ever fights you have at home stay there; the bar is neutral territory. Third nobody gets to engage in, um, sex in public."

Yeah that's a nice awkward pause right there.

"Or generally nudity, either. But that changes for different species."

He has heard the two first rules or variations thereof quite often in very different parts of the Galaxy. The third... Well, people of other species tend not to mention sex, reproduction or related terms in front ot a Krogan.

It's a touchy subject, plus most people would be disturbed at the thought of Krogan sex. Or nudity.

"I agree. Nobody wants to see humans mating all over the place." Is there a hint of humour in those dark red eyes?

And all other species mate by holding hands and listening to light opera. Sure Wrex.

"Um, yeah. Anyway, your first drink is free and after that there's a tab - Bar-san takes money from anywhere, so paying doesn't have to be super complicated."

No, but other species are less repulsive to see naked than humans. All that soft, exposed skin.

Anyway, Wrex turns his head towards the Bar, his hand replacing the shotgun at the small of his back, the weapon folding into itself with a series of metallic clacks.

"I -could- use a drink, but I can't see anyone tending. Where is this Bar-San?"
