Lily is still trying to get the hang of this Milliways thing.
The gentleman might catch her eye because he's dressed more like she expects people to be dressed than most patrons here (especially Muggles, though she's in Muggle clothing herself, this evening.)
"So far it's all down to walking through a door at some particular moment in time. I haven't seen any other system than that. Do you get here by other means?"
It wouldn't surprise him, not quite.
But it's definitely outside of his Milliways experience.
"There's a trap door at the bottom of my school trunk. If I open it, there's a ladder, leading down about ten feet into a round room, stone walls, about six feet across. And the only thing in that room is a door to here.
"The people I talked to the first night I came seemed to think that was ... well, not the normal means of arrival."

And then she catches sight of the injuries.
"Are you all right?"
Reply
"What are -- oh. I wouldn't worry yourself. I'm fine."
It was just a little tiff, really.
Comparatively.

She heard something similiar from a fourth year with a black eye, yesterday.
"The other fellow looks worse?"

His smile, even where it pulls at the abraded skin near his eye, doesn't even come close to making him wince.

"Though the tea would be to drink, not to put on your eye, that would hurt. And probably not help."

"But I'll take your point. The name's Sam Tyler. I take it you've been here before, then?"
Reply
"I'm Lily Evans. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Tyler."

His smile goes a little wry.
"I've got one from mine. It makes for a very -- interesting experience."
Reply
"I don't know, does that count as the same world?
"I suspect there's not much about this place that doesn't make for an interesting experience."

Yet, anyway. He can't say he's looking forward to that kind of experience.
"Interesting's one word for it, right enough. Maybe a bit of overwhelming, too."
If he hadn't already tumbled through into 1973 . . .

"How do you get here, if you don't mind my asking, Mr. Tyler?"

"Well, at least it ought to prevent you being here when you don't mean to be."
It's a weak response, but right now that's all Sam's got.

"Although explaining to Perdita why I was climbing out of my trunk could be quite awkward, if she ever caught me at it.
"She's one of other girls in my room."

Though it seems like she could make a go of it.
