There's the roar of an engine coming from somewhere near the forest. It's a deep, throaty sound and soon accompanied by the squeal of tyres though at first, there's nothing to be seen.

Until there is.

Out of nowhere, a car appears. It's big and bronze and makes a hell of a racket. But possibly not as much of one as Gene.

'...bloody 'ell is goin' on!'

Sameth hears the noise in the forge and comes out before backing up against the wall, "Charter!"

Its said with a mix of awe and fear, that's quite a car.

The passenger door flies open and Kate comes tumbling out.

"Land!"

She's this close to kissing the earth.

'Oh shut it, you tart,' floats out after her.

The voice sounds pretty amused and its owner appears a moment later, hauling out of the drivers side and scrutinising the young man.

He's in a rather medieval outfit of a linen shirt and breeches and looks rather dirty since he's been working in the forge all day.

When Kate falls out, he walks over to see if she needs help, "Are you hurt?"

"Miraculously, no."

She shoots daggers at Gene, though she can't quite mask the excited little smirk lingering underneath.

"Sorry if we surprised you."

'What're you s'posed t'be, a reject from Robin 'ood's band of Merry Twats?'

Forgive him, he's in a good mood. The insults only get worse when that happens. And he jerks his head towards Kate.

'Don' mind her. It's me that should be thankful I'm still alive.'

"Who? I'm Sameth and work in the forge. That's a beautiful automobile. When and where is it from?"

At the moment, Sam's eyes are mainly on the car, its just powerful and he wants to see how it works.

"What's that supposed to mean? I thought I did all right for my first go 'round."

She fixes Gene with another look.

"Be nice."

And, to Sameth:

"Don't mind him, really."

'Oh, shut up,' he says to her, bluntly (though not unkindly), and grins at Sameth. Anyone who likes cars is A-OK with him.

'Ford Cortina, Mark II mate. You know abou' cars?'

He doesn't look like he does, dressed like that.

"Not a lot. I've looked over the ones in the garage and got to work on one once at school in Ancelstierre. Its in my same world but more modern,"

He looks over at Kate with a nervous smile, he's not sure why the man's being rude and smiling like that.

"You get used to it, sweetheart," says Kate, reading the other man's expression.

He looks from one to the other, a friendly sort of scowl on his face.

'Should I leave you two alone?'

He jerks his head towards Kate and says to Sameth,

'Don' try it, mate. She'd chew you up an' spit you out. Expensive, too.'

Because implying she's a prostitute for laughs is what you do in polite society, dont you know?

"Huh, oh I have a girlfriend. Did you bring the car in from your world?"

If he just thinks of the man like Mogget it works.

Kate isn't looking much herself to begin with, dressed in clothes much thinner and shorter than she's accustomed to, and makeup much darker.

"Swear to God, Gene, I will push this car into the lake."

(Never mind the obvious blush.)

"Maybe it's you two who'd like t'be alone?"

'Oi!'

Less of it! He looks distinctly unimpressed and follows up with a finger pointing at her.

'This car touches that lake, you follow right after, you get it? Coun' yourself lucky I 'aven't chucked you in already, after what you did t'the gearbox.'

Not joking either. He looks to Sameth for some male solidarity.

'Bloody birds.'

"What happened to the gearbox?"

He'll find curiosity about the car but not any solidarity, Sameth's from a family with dangerous women.
