A long, long, long time ago -- months and months and months -- Anna met The Man Who Likes Cake and Pie. And he gave her a present -- a little vial of something that would make any paint she added it to the right kind of paint for painting flowers

Anna looks up after finishing painting a blade of grass a sort of turquoise color, to admire her work, and catches sight of Elle, instead.

Her smile gets bigger.

"Elle! Hi!

"I got the postcards you left with Bar. Thank you. That was really nice of you.

"How are you?"

"I'm painting the grass different colors," Anna says.

"Would you like to try?"

Anna has extra paintbrushes and plenty of paint.

[hear_the_voices]

"Because it's pretty. And fun. And interesting. And something I've never done before.

"Don't you think it's pretty?

[hear_the_voices]

"I like trying new things," Anna says, painting a blade of grass in a deep shade of purple.

[hear_the_voices]

Anna shakes her head.

"No.

"It's special paint, for plants.

"I got it here.

"It was a present."

[hear_the_voices]

Anna nods.

"Yes.

"But I promised I wouldn't say who."

[hear_the_voices]

"It's supposed to be for roses, like in Alice in Wonderland, but I didn't see any roses, and they're already all different colors, so I decided to try it on grass, instead.

"I haven't tried anything else.

"Yet."

[hear_the_voices]

"But the flowers in the greenhouse probably belong to somebody," Anna says.

"And it's easier to reach the grass than the trees.

"But we can try trees if you want."
