Urquhart came wandering into the kitchen after a bit.

He'd finished watching a comparatively boring football match, and now felt like food. Squid and garlic spinach, perhaps? He'd had that in Greece.

There's an array of gift baskets taking up nearly all of the tables. They are in varying states of completion. One of them has his name on it!

Sunshine looks up as Urq comes in, and gives him a slight smile. "Hey."

"This smells wonderful," Urquhart says. "I think I'm not going to cook squid and garlic, after all."

"Thank you," she says, kneading dough for savory rolls to offset the sweets in all the baskets. "Sorry about taking up all the cooking space."

"No, it's not that," Urquhart says. "It's just that I don't want to drown out that wonderful smell. Hmm, what could I make that's odorifically inoffensive?"

"Know anything that calls for rosemary?" The rolls she's making now are rosemary-garlic.

"Oh yes, of course I do," Urquhart says. "You can do lamb or chicken with rosemary. Perhaps in a bed of vegetables, in the oven, cooking it slowly."

"Marinate the vegetables in a mix of basalmic vinegar and olive oil, fresh chopped rosemary and grated garlic, a bit of spicy mustard and brown sugar," she suggest, remembering how well that went over with the customers the last time she manned the kitchen for the day.

"You can probably do the same with the lamb or chicken."

She wouldn't know, but she can make and educated guess.

"That's a good idea," Urquhart says. "I'll set that up and let it marinate, and then I'll watch you bake, if I may?"

"Sure," she says, with another slight smile. "There are even some extra cinnamon rolls, if you'd like one while you wait."

They're the imperfect ones (even phenomenal bakers get them, sometimes), set aside for personal disposal. Even if they're each lopsided or squished on one side, they're still warm, gooey with melted cinnamon/sugar, homemade icing and deliciousness.

Urquhart takes his time, first chopping vegetables and slicing meat, mixing the marinade, and setting it all aside in a deep oven dish.

"It's so warm, it won't take long to marinate," he muses, coming back to where Sunshine is working.

Now he eyes the cinnamon rolls.

"The ovens have been on for... well, over an hour by this point. So it gets pretty warm in here, yeah."

"I'm usually the only one who can stand the heat in my bakery in high summer, back home." It's like a furnace within a furnace.

"I've know the Arabian desert," Urquhart says. "If heat were going to kill me, it already would have."

"Sounds like the place for me," she smiles, slightly wry. "I'm the only one at the coffeehouse back home that can stand the bakery with all the ovens going full-blast in the August heat, and I have the added bonus of never getting a sunburn."

Urquhart grins at her. "If I ever meet anybody with a door to the Arabian desert, I'll tell you and take you there."

"I'd enjoy that." Her smile's still there, but the sad cast to her eyes say that she doesn't expect to be able to take him up on that offer.
