It's been some time since Mordin saw this place last- two years and change, although he could probably give you the exact amount of subjective time if he really cared to do so. He's had a fruitful and productive day of dismantling and disabling unwelcome listening devices while cell samples to be used against the Collectors replicated ( Read more... )

"Some time ago. Once or twice, nothing major," says Mordin, turning to take in the motion of one of the Meccano beams in the ceiling. "Just after opening Omega clinic. Didn't happen again afterward. Wasn't worth reporting. Interesting holiday. Commemoration of engineering? Planetary discovery of principles of gravity, branching out into all forms of physical science?"

"Synthetics marking holidays? Fascinating. Implications of cultural development certainly- hm?"

He turns to peer at the vidwindow.

"'Reconfigurations'. Specify, please?"

If Mordin had eyebrows, they'd be rising through his hairline, if he had a hairline. "Really. Wasn't aware anyone possessed that level of body modification technology. Must uncover how it works. Research data could be invaluable. Any known long-term sequelae?"

Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from an upended bucket of nanotech. Or something.

"Understandable. Doubtful whether cross-compatibility exists between your biomedical devices and local systems. Level of tech involved strongly suggests otherwise," Mordin says. "Only way to find out seems to be examining personally."

He pokes at the vidwindow with one finger. A human appears. So does an animal, a peculiar device, something that might be a pile of rock, and a human of improbable hair.

"Hm."

"Unfamiliar design of synthetic. Doesn't appear especially mobile," Mordin muses. "Animal some sort of Terran felinoid. Unfamiliar with particular species but suspect genus either Panthera or Uncia."

"Hm. Any known link between Cybertronian synthetics and humans?" Mordin says. "Five choices offered, two humans, one Terran animal. Surprising preponderance of human-oriented options for holiday of race not otherwise associated with Earth."

"Ah," says Mordin, nodding sagely. "Partial explanation. Will have to corroborate later, of course. Evidence always essential... Uncertain, however, as to provenance of remaining image." He indicates the rock pile. "Doubtful whether assuming form of lichen likely to provide any sort of insight."

"Hmm." Mordin considers the vidwindow, eyes narrowed briefly. "Suggestions?"
