He takes a tankard of rum and studies the food. And feels homesick for the Pearl. And wonders if Jack will show his face. And ponders if it's bad luck to be at a baby shower. And wonders why Mike is so out of shape, as if pregnant. Which is impossible.
Rum is good for pirates with questions. It makes them forget. And relax and enjoy themselves.

Watching him, Elizabeth has to quirk a smile. Their situation has much improved lately, thanks to Raph, and it's nice to see Gibbs relax a bit.
Even if she isn't quite there yet.
If he glances her way, she'll raise her fruit drink in acknowledgment.

"He's pregnant, though the baby is actually Bar's, I hear. Magic" Beat. "The father is a pirate."
A sidelong look suggests Gibbs had best prepare himself.

It's a lot to take in. Elizabeth isn't the sort to clap her boatswain on the shoulder, so she looks around and grabs another bottle of rum for the old sailor instead, putting it near his hand.

In point of fact, it would have been easier at some level to deal with Jack and Mike. Gibbs knows about that side of Jack Sparrow. He doesn't get it, but it's hardly unique among pirates, or navy men. But Jack and...magic. You would think the captain would know better...
No. No, you wouldn't.
"I suppose it's far too much to hope the captain...the other captain, Captain...might not get himself into such impossibilities."
The rum dulls his senses and he feels so much better.
