Its always odd to her how much he makes her miss her brothers for all their foolish and troublesome ways.
So she's reading a version of the Iliad that most people don't know about as she sits in front of the fire.

Urquhart being who he is, he is neither maudlin nor homesick. He is just very interested, and still quite amuse that people believe there's a monster in the lake at home.
He does keep looking at the lovely golden-haired woman from time to time.
