The nights on Serenity are getting longer and longer, the closer they come to Kaylee and Simon leaving. Or maybe it's the more Mal mutters under his breath, the less he talks to either leaving party, that makes it so long

Tea is a wonderful thing, and George would agree on that. He headed to the couches by the fire to stretch out with his own cups and some books for reading.

"Oh sorry, was just going to sit over here if it's all right?" She was quite pretty, though he had a girlfriend now.

"Yes, absolutely." Inara nods, smiling.

"Thank you," George gave a small smile as he sat down with his books and tea.

"No problem." Inara smiles again, sipping at her tea. "What are you reading? If you don't mind me asking."

"The Stranger by Albert Camus." He held it up, and it was clear by the title that it was in the original French.

"Been a few years since I've read it."

[makesmeatease]

"Yŏuqù de," Inara murmurs, peering closely at the title. "Is that French? It's a dead language where I'm from, yet it always looks so...yōumĕi. Elegant."

"It is French, and sorry... was that uh Mandarin? Not Korean right?" He hadn't studied Asian languages like the European ones he did, but still could recognize it vaguely.
