The nights on Serenity are getting longer and longer, the closer they come to Kaylee and Simon leaving. Or maybe it's the more Mal mutters under his breath, the less he talks to either leaving party, that makes it so long

Teja is in a nearby armchair, softly playing his guitar. He knows not of any space-hos, and might disapprove if he did.

But what about former space-hos? :O

Inara sips at her tea, watching him play the guitar, a faint smile on her face.

Teja is playing, and then starts to sing, a rather strange song, which might be, in an odd sense, about Milliways -- accepting that it is real, and full of strange old warriors.

Like him.

Inara just listens, tapping her fingers along with the tune, against the china of her teacup.

Teja finishes his song, then inclines his head to her. "Greetings," he says, quietly.

[makesmeatease]

"Ni hao," Inara replies, just as softly. "That was lovely."

[ostro_goth]

"I speak not that language," Teja says. "But thank you!"

[makesmeatease]

"Mandarin," Inara supplies. "It meant hello. And you're welcome. You have quite a talent."

[ostro_goth]

"Mandarin?" Teja says. He had thought that was a fruit, not a language.

Pause.

"I am glad it pleased you, though."

[makesmeatease]

"Chinese." She amends. "A dialect of."

[ostro_goth]

"Ahh," Teja says. "Yes, indeed, I have heard of those lands in the east."

[makesmeatease]

"In my world, it no longer exists. Earth's been used up for years."

[ostro_goth]

"Used up?" Teja asks, shocked. "How can one use up the world?"

[makesmeatease]

"Too much industry, perhaps." Inara shrugs. "I live in space most days now."

[ostro_goth]

"And nobody can live on the earth any longer?" Teja asks.
