Kim's managed to run errands for people in the market every day this week, earning a few pence here ( Read more... )

(OOC: Millitimed a bit but its great to see a pup of yours in Bar.)

Its early yet for Sameth and he doesn't want to go home or drop these letters but he will.

He notices the boy who looks like he could be from Ancelstierre and his cider,

"That smells nice."

She glances up. There's an automatic caution in her expression, but tonight it's open enough.

"Ain't bad." She takes a sip. "'S worth the blunt, anyway."

The slang isn't one he knows and Sam just looks confused,

"Oh, that's good. The spiced wine is nice too."

Nobody knows Kim's slang. She manages not to roll her eyes much.

She shrugs. "I ain't much a one for wine. Ain't hardly high water enough."

"High water? What do the tides have to do with what you drink?"

Belisaere's by the sea so that's how Sameth's mind tends to work.

. . . Sigh.

"I ain't got enough money for wine," she explains patiently.

She gives him an ironic look and sips her cider.

He shrugs and looks down at the pack of letters he's holding. Then he turns back to the Bar and checks the sealing wax on each one, Bar provides him a glass of something.

Its fairly obvious that he's stalling about something as he takes out a coin and flips it, watching as it hangs in the air for a moment.

She eyes him, and the coin.

. . . Wait, did it actually hang longer than it ought to? Because that deserves a double-take.

It did since he's been working on it though it falls down with a clatter and just misses his drink,

"Charter, need to fix that."

She starts back a little with a stifled exclamation.

"You're--"

He turns to Kim again,

"A Charter Mage. You're from someplace without magic, right?"

"'Course I'm from someplace with magic," she retorts, "I just don't -- it ain't like the frogmakers are goin' around showin' it off in pubs like that."

"Its not showing off. I just had it in my pocket. Do the frogmakers actually create frogs or just pull them from someplace?"

Being told he's showing off after Mogget telling him, he's been selfish which he knows is true just makes Sameth feel annoyed.
