He will have to forgive Ryu, then, when the kata slows down and matches the pace of the music...

The kata does not take too long; Ryu finishes, back to a simple ready stance, then standing normally.

Ganymede is greeted with a formal bow.

Ako isn't a watcher, in any real sense.

What she is, is running. Flat out as far around the lake as she can manage.

When you run it's like you're free. Just a little.

Well, Ryu is a watcher: he stops his practice and observes Ako, curiously.

She's pushing herself, but she's not fleeing. She doesn't look back, or around, for attack.

This isn't training or exercise, it's testing. How far can you run at a sprint before you collapse?

Ryu tracks her with his gaze, and will follow at a distance too.

Now he is curious as well, how much the girl can run before she collapses.

When Capt. Roland received the advertisement with her morning coffee she wasn't sure what "Self Defense" meant, boxing or wrestling perhaps? She certainly didn't expect anything like what the oriental was doing.

The movements do intrigue our Capt. Roland however and thus she watches dressed in her full uniform, her cup of coffee in one hand and the advertisement in the other.

Well, Ryu is dressed in training gi pants, shirtless and shoeless.

His movements are nothing short of impressive, dodging and blocking attacks, responding with demolishing hard strikes, without abandoning speed and grace.

Watching him, Capt. Roland is reminded of a certain publication she recently came across. She quickly pushes the thought away before she blushes and clears her throat.

The narrator would like to apologize for her rudeness, she really does not know better having never seen anyone doing a kata (or anything like it) before.

Ryu finishes the current sequence, then bows to the woman. "Greetings, how may I help you?"

To tell the truth, Ryu could be a centerfold of that kind of publication anytime. He redefines the world 'physically fit'.
