Charlie doesn't really have a reaction when he gets asked to bartend. He doesn't overly mind, but at the same time there's a not small part of him that wants to ignore the request and go to sleep, for however long it takes for his Teja to come back ( Read more... )

Kate approached him. "Another drafting by Bar?" she smiled, and then eyed the specials name with growing concern as her smile dropped.

"....Ok what happened?"

"Same as usual. She asked if I would stay back here while she slept." Charlie knows that isn't what she meant.

But it's the answer she's going to get, regardless.

She folded her arms in front of her and gave him a pointed look.

"You know what I meant."

She gets a shirt sigh, and a final tok as he sets a shot glass down firmly on the bar top. "Yes, I do. I gave you your answer. would you like a drink?"

"No you gave me your answer."

Kate sighed, "Just tea, and what's going on? I know I've been busy for a while. How are things between you and Doc?"

"Civil, last I checked. We're both grown men, we are perfectly capable of resolving fights on our own." It takes a bit to not be overly snappy and call her 'mother'.

He takes a large ceramic mug down from a cabinet to make her tea.

She snapped right back, "Look, Will just told me you two argued, he didn't say anything about a fight. I thought maybe it was still about that."

Kate then studied the specials some more, "No... it's not that. Wait... did you meet someone?"

"No, it's not about that. It hasn't been since I got in the fistfight int he first place." Charlie gave her a blank look at her question, looking from the specials board to the bar top.

"Other than Teja, no." He took a deep and careful breath. "But that in itself might not be working out after all."

"Teja... fistfight?"

Kate was now staring at him blankly and realizing she's missed more than she thought of late.

Apparently he is going to have to explain more than he really wants to. As seems to be the mode of late. "Doc, fight. Teja, lover."

Or was.

"At least until three days ago." He wonders what honestly went wrong, that such a sudden change was even possible. "We--Teja and I--and been on holiday in a mutual friend's world, and he faded and came back here....and unfortunately he got reset to when he first came in, right after he died. He doesn't remember anything he's done with anyone here." Including me.

The tea was ignored now, as Kate looked stricken at that. All this has been going on for her friends, and she had been busy with school and her auditions.

"God... I had no idea. I'm sorry... I know I haven't been around much lately, or just with Will when I am. That's not right. I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault." No one, with the exception of himself, could have really prevented this.

He could have been paying more attention and told Teja not to take the cuff off. He knew what it was for, after all. "Tell Will that Teja's not himself, if you see him. He's not...he's just different."

"No, but I could have been around more. Tried to find you two sooner or something."

Kate slowly nodded as she stood up, tea still untouched, "I'll tell him. And if you ever do want to talk sometime... let me know. I'll try to be here for you if you need it."
