There is a litter of kittens on a table, most of which are so tiny that their eyes haven't opened yet. They're forming a soft, mewing pile of fur, looking for the warmth of a mother that isn't there

Teja is not the sort of man to utter a sentiment best expressed by 'Awwww' aloud; but he stands by a nearby pillar, casually, tea cup in hand, and watches the very small animals.

Part of the reason they might not have noticed him is because he drew a hand back to watch with interest. Certainly, in Milliways things are different; people tend to be alert for unusual things and are more likely to see things that are really there.
The kittens are happy to have more bodies among them. Especially if they're suckable.
The Jumblies are themselves unusual... They would probably notice if someone started stroking the cats again.
The Jumblies don't mind being nibbled. The scales are usually good protection if something gets too strong a grip, but they certainly don't mind being gummed by babies, no matter what species they are... It tickles.
Mother Nature looks down at the kittens from beside the table.
"There's something you don't see every day. But then, you don't see Mother Nature and Death together everyday, either, do you? We sort of work at different ends of the same line."
First things first: Great, big, black cloak of fabulosity. Litter of kittens that you could just gobble up with a cuteness chaser they're too adorable.
First things first, the second batch: Lorne is not into that sort of thing.
But he is a curious kitten, himself. "Ooooooh, be still my heart, are you trying to charm my socks off, Mister? If you are, mission accomplished. If you aren't, well, it's your lucky day anyhoo!"
Don't mind him having a seat, please. The kittens are too lovely to just walk on by.
