Two weeks ago, Mac celebrated her twentieth birthday and finished up what (she hoped would be) the last set of finals she'd ever take at Hearst.

A week after that, she got dragged along on the biannual rite of torture camping trip with her family

*At a table not too far distant, there's a geekboy leafing through a notebook with a similar look of unease on his face.*

Okay. Okay. Like a band-aid, right? And it's way better to just get the suspense over with.

Mac rips open the envelope with one quick -- if slightly fumbly -- gesture and shakes out the letter.

A few seconds later, her face falls.

"Dammit." It's quiet, but vehement.

*Enough so to make Andrew glance up from his own stuff at her.*

Mac slaps the letter closed with a loud, displeased sigh and unceremoniously chucks it onto the table, away from the three envelopes she's yet to open. As she drops her chin into her hand, she catches sight of Andrew.

"Hey," she mumbles, mustering up a small half-smile.
