Quinn's gathered up his handful of things from the Bar in general, and requested some writing paper and a pen. He's going to head home tonight, and he's got a very real feeling that it'll be for the last time. There are people he owes messages to. Veronica, Hero, Merriman Lyon, Naraht, Moiraine, others- all of them. He could've done the notes ( Read more... )

When Veronica passes by, as she eventually does, she recognises Quinn by the slope of his shoulders as he bends over the table to write. This in itself piques her curiousity, but she takes the time to buy a steaming mug of coffee from the bar before approaching his table.

"Howdy, dragonslayer. Mind some company?"

"Ah, now, the only dragons that got killed around me were all killed by the giant robots," says Quinn, looking up with a smile. "Sure, sit down. hallo, Veronica. How've you been?"

"I think you get points for being there," she insists, pulling out a chair.

"I've been pretty good. Though it weirds me out every time I come in here and it looks practically like winter outside," nodding towards the lake entrance, "when it's still summer back home."

"All right, if you insist," says Quinn.

"Summer, eh? Lucky you. Time's just been rolling on back home; we're coming up on winter now ourselves, as a matter of fact."

All things do pass, in time; the Wheel of Time turns, and ages come and go with its turning, leaving memories that become legend.

Here at Milliways, however, none of that is immediately apparent as the Aes Sedai glides silently downstairs into the room, headed towards the bar.

Quinn glances up from his notes every now and again; you never do know, after all, when you're going to encounter someone you were writing to not half a minute ago. And so he notices the figure and its distinctive way of movement, and stands up and calls out, "Moiraine."

"Yeah, you could say that," says Quinn. "Longer back home than here, I think- it doesn't look a year older in here. How've you been, eh?"

He gestures to the other seat at his table, and signals to one of the rats to order tea- well, tea for her; he's a little too fond of the local coffee to pass it up.

*Here's someone happening by.*

Oh hey -- it's Quinn, right? Long time no see.

Quinn glances up from his notes, then smiles. "Hallo, Andrew," he says. "It really has been, hasn't it? How've you been?"

Okay, pretty much. How about you?

*It was months ago, but he vaguely remembers that Quinn was having trouble at home. Trouble beyond the whole post-apocalypse-with-dragons thing.*

"Better," says Quinn. "Much better. It's been nearly a month since our last dragon attack, for one thing."

Pause.

"How long's it been since we last spoke? I've been out of the Bar a good year now."
