Mary, who is not, is eying the sign with a minor frown. This might be because she is one of the amnesia people, or it might be because she spent last night trying to find out what had happened, had given up only due to exhaustion, and someone else already knew by the time she woke up.
And, yes, that was a name tag, with the number "1" above it and just below it, the words "Mary", and then below it "Marian".
"Magic's always stronger at the solstices," Agnes answers. "My working theory is that someone made some kind of forgetting spell, but they didn't account for the time of year, and so it got out of control and started affecting people other than it was intended for."
She gestures to the nametag. "Did you remember your name, or did you find someone who knows you?"
"Found someone who remembered it. Didn't remember exactly what they told me the first time, so I went with what I thought sounded closest. But I got told again."
Marian was fingering her name tag, with a strange expression.
"I was trying to gather together who everyone involved was last night. So they all got name tags with numbers as I found them."
Agnes shakes her head. This was bigger than she thought.
"Any similarities between the cases? The two I talked to this morning said they both fell asleep in the bar, and when they woke up, they had no memory. Does that sound familiar to the people you talked to? Or to you yourself?"
"That is the common thread biding all of them, including me. None of them remembers anything from before, but they all do remember waking up here with no memory within the last twenty hours."
"Have any of them reported anything unusual near them? Memory spells are generally triggered by certain flowers or herbs, sometimes crystals or stones."
"Well, actually I found and woke three people from their sleep, while asking people, and they woke up to be in the first stages of realizing they had no memory. But there were no tea cups or pots near them."
"This place? Tables, chairs, couches. Lots of random things that all seemed common place. Or, well, they felt common place, since I'm not sure this pace can be considered common."
That was said with a decisive nod, even if she didn't understand the place one bit.

"So whats caused this Midsummer spike?"

"Not that anyone's mentioned to me. Oh--"
The looked up helpfully. "Well, I did have a tea cup on the table when I woke up."

"I left it on the table in my confusion last night. So I really doubt it's still there."

"It's okay. At least it's something to go on. If you see any of the other people, would you ask them if they found something similar by them?"
