Something different is with Rand as he walks down into the bar from his room. He's never been visibly armed before.

Tonight, there is a blade strapped to his hip, peaceknotted with a red silk cloth and white silk cord.

He sits unobtrusovely at the bar and flags down the bartender of the evening with his uninjured hand.

After the other night, she has decided that it may be just as well for her to keep a closer eye on events in Milliways, insofar as she can.

(If this allows for less sleep than it might have otherwise, as she splits her time more between the bar and the Summer Country, well, the Wheel weaves.)

As the silver line of the Gateway vanishes behind her and she glances around the room, Moiraine sees Rand.

In the next moment, she is gliding across the floor towards him.

Rand is still searching for the bartender, a carefully blank look on his face. He sees Moiraine gliding over to the bar, and nods to her.

"Moiraine Sedai," he greets her as she draws close enough for quiet conversation.

"Rand al'Thor," she replies, even as she assesses him.

"How are matters with you?"

"Matters are as well as they can be in one's life. But things are being patched together nicely."

He offers her a chair next to him.

[nitro_is_ace]

There's a small bepatched pyro studying Rand with a very curious expression.

Experts say: Run now. Run far, far away.

"Nice pig-sticker, mate."

Too late.

An eyebrow is raised at Ace in wry response.

"Thanks."

[nitro_is_ace]

"Not a problem." Ace replies, still admiring the sword.

Ace doesn't get swords.

Mostly because she'd most likely cut her own dang foot.

"I'd show you the blade, but it's a pain to undo the peace knot."

[creator_raven]

Possibly it is difficult to be unobstrusive with a sword.

Possibly Raven is just feeling friendly.

The most likely possibility, however, is that Raven is bored.

He blinks at Rand, head tilting.

"You are often for expecting trouble, then?"

Rand looks to the voice.

"There is always trouble," he replies.

Raven beams.

"That, I think, is a thing I will not deny."

The fact that trouble often comes hand in hand with Raven is, of course not mentioned.

He is not stupid.

Er.

Absentmindedly running a hand through his hair, Rand looks at Raven carefully.

"You seem in good spirits."
