He was told to stay away from the outside at night, so he's obeying it. It's hard though. These are the sorts of nights that he and the rest of his squad would play capture the flag for

Makita sits down and sets her own pistol in front of him. "Trade you for a bit?" Cause, wow does that pistol look nice. She wouldn't mind a closer look at all.
She grins, she's like that a lot too, but she really wants to get her hands on his gun. "It's a Takorov 5mm auto-pistol. It's pretty small caliber, but that gives me a 35 round magazine. A lot of the folks back home prefer bigger guns, but I've always been a fan of not running out of ammo in the middle of a firefight."
"It is pretty light." She reaches into her pocket and pulls out a second one. "I generally carry a pair of them, doubles my rate of fire, and allows me to suppress two positions at once." This? Is Makita talking shop. She's enjoying it. No one else at the bar has expressed much interest.
She's grinning as she points out the weapon's high points. "Ceramic construction keeps the weight down. And the small cartridge helps." Then she shrugs, "It's not all good, of course. The ceramics aren't as durable as good steel; it'll crack rather than deform when it gets too hot. And the smaller rounds are really only good for soft targets."
"Ceramics are what make the needler a powerful weapon-and one of the reasons why it's so durable." He nods, "I can see why that'd be a problem though. Especially given the stress you'd put a weapon under."
There's a pause-
And he hands her his weapon, hilt first.
"Standard Sixteen rounds, although I keep a combat round chambered when I'm in a firefight."
Very heavy. She's handled SMGs that are lighter. But she grins, cause this is a nice gun. "Wow... This thing weighs a ton! I bet you could use it to crack someone's skull if you had to. I bet that's handy." Her gun, on the other hand, would crack well before someone's skull.
Makita makes a face. She doesn't like armor. It's so heavy and bulky and hard to move in. And when other people are wearing it it makes them harder to kill! "Yeah, armor's a pain. Fortunately most of the Reds are light infantry, they like to stay mobile. But every once in a while I have to break out my RKG-41. It's got a lousy rate of fire, but it throws some pretty heavy rounds. Plus it has a bayonet." Makita likes having a bayonet. Just in case.
She nods, "Yeah, neither of them will do for all the things we run into. Like a Krawl platoon. Got to have armor piercing rounds for that. Or one of the Red witches... They've got these shields, and some scary powerful Kastings. And Protokol Piercing Rounds are hard to come by."
Makita's eyes grow wide, "Plasma rounds? As in super-heated energy?" The idea of fitting that kind of power into a handgun is stunning. "You can do that? Cause I bet if you had a big enough plasma burst you could overload the shields." Sadly the only things that carry plasma weapons in Makita's world are Skyfurnaces. And a kilometer-long airship really isn't the most practical weapon in a firefight.
The chief chuckles now. The sound echoes in his suit and sounds like something alien and strange, "-The covenant's weaponry's been adapted to meet our needs on several occasions. They've got quite a few guns that made the ONI boys drool with excitement."
"Well..." Makita purses her lips in thought, "Unfortunately, I doubt I could keep a decent supply of ammunition even if I did get ahold of such a weapon. Like I said, we can't even keep up demand for P.P.R., and regular ammo's a pain too." Still, she can dream.

That niggling curiousity however-
"...What are you carrying?"

"...It looks light."
He's scrutinizing it intently. Or at least as intently as he can. Boy, where's Cortana when you need her to analyze something for you?

She'll note it's heavy.

The chief taps his own metal, "-They come in a variety of forms, and it doesn't do shit when it comes down to plasma based weaponry."

He shrugs, "I doubt it'd take out an Elite anyway. Those Bastards are something else."

He pauses.
"...Do you have plasma rounds?"
