The sound is like thunder and he winces backward, eyes flashing up, instantly focusing in on the man's face, then his eyes, then his molecules. He gasps and claps his hands to his face and staggers backward a little further, breathing heavy. It is a few minutes before he can be calm again and he speaks quietly, eyes still closed.
"You know of my people, stranger?"
His voice is but a whisper and yet it comes as thunder to his ears.
"I didnt know any others made it off my world. I would not have myself, save for this place... and now I find myself afflicted by whatever this madness is..."
He shakes his head, but slowly, eyes closed.
"Apparently natural, apparently normal for my kind, but confusing and quite out of my control..."
"My world had no magic that I know of and I am not... exactly .. comfortable with it..."
he sighs, thinking.
"I am afraid I must decline... but I thank you for both the offer and the thought that went to it. Such consideration is a good thing and an admirable one."
It involved using the water to carve out a series of channels, almost like a blueprint. It's for something odd, don't worry.
But his head lifts at a familiar smell, and he turns his attention to Jor-el. And his eyesbrows raise.
"A Kryptonian. Amazing."
