Lawrence is not especially good around children -- especially those who fly.

But he is standing somewhere in the vicinity of the party with his hands in his robes, glancing around with some amount of interest.

And Gary gives him a smile.

"Lost or not used to flying babies or just out for some cake?"

"A bit of each of those, I should think. Mostly the second, however."

He arches a brow. "There is cake?"

He nods to the cake, but also to the plates of perfectly baked cookies. To someone with a keen nose, they might realize that Gary himself gives off the scent of freshly baked cookies.

"Plenty of. I've some skill at baking and the little one's m'son."

Lawrence takes a cookie from the plate and then nibbles it easily.

"Ah, congradulations, then." He smiles. "How rude of me. I'm Lawrence." He holds out his hand expectantly.

He shuffles Andrei in his arms before taking the hand.

"Gary Perunu, sir. Nice to meet you. Go by Lawrence or Larry or should I've never even said that second one in your general direction ever?"

There's a sly look to his eyes as he shakes Gary's hand.

"Lawrence is preferable, but Thomas Edward is strictly forbidden." He laughs faintly.

He was never a history buff and the movies he liked involved gang heists and blowing shit up.

"Gotcha. I'd say you couldn't use my middle name but then I'd have to tell it to you and that's not happening."

Well, that was all right.

He nods. "Understandable, of course. So .. this is your son's party?"

He nods.

"Pretty much. Adopted son."

He looks at Joshua, who's still flying.

"Yeah, you'll notice the lack of wings on me."

Lawrence grins. "Yes, I did rather notice that. It's nice to see adopted children here, though."

So many orphans in Arabia. Some because of him, but he doesn't think about that.

"Hello. Don't believe we've met." He holds out a hand that isn't dealing with one of the children in offering. "I'm Richard Mayhew."

He arches a brow and shakes the hand.

"A pleasure, I'm sure. Thomas Lawrence. But please, call me Lawrence."

He nods and shakes his hand firmly.

"Pleased to meet you, Lawrence. Welcome to Milliways. Would you like a cupcake? It's my boy's first birthday!"

He beams with pride at the little redheaded boy.

"Well, I never say no to a cupcake on a child's birthday."

Not that he's ever been around children, persay. But still.
