"Come on Tim! I admit that your early experiences here may have been, um, unfortunate, but it's a great place, really. At least have a drink? If I buy it?"

He is treated to the full force of a beseeching young girl's gaze.

"Shelley," he begins, sternly.

He is trying. Dammit, it's just not sporting for her to use these methods!

"One," he says, sulking. "And one only. Don't think you can get around me after that, young lady! This place is full of danger. And not proper danger, either. Low danger."

Shelley beams.

"Bar sells ale! Proper ale. Real ale, even. It will take your mind off Amy's kidnapping experiences. Not that hers were so bad, anyway."

Far above, in the darkness of the rafters, someone hisses in displeasure.

Kidnapping.

So utterly foolish and completely operatic. Of course nothing ever happens to the girls and they continue on their stupid, self-satisfied ways he could show them suffering.

Would show them suffering...

Behind him, something moves.

"Oh," says Havelock calmly, as the Opera Ghost spins around.

(Cloak swirling, hand on rapier in the classic fight-or-flight stance)

"I beg your pardon."

He nods distantly, and drops down to the bar floor.

Shelley looks up, startled, as the young man lands beside her

(eyes so blue)

and almost shrieks.

"Gah- ah. Sorry."

Tim flails indignantly.

"Do you make a habit of dropping into young ladies' personal space?"

Havelock bows his head slightly before glancing coolly over at Tim.

"I apologise, Miss. And... not as a rule, I must say."

"Just, ah, so you know?" a young man a little way down the bar interjects, "You are free to drop into mine any time you like."

Jack grins cheerfully, and winks.

Havelock nods solemnly.

"I shall make a mental note."

"That's okay." says Shelley cheerfully, over the momentary resemblance.

"Tim, please be nice. You don't want to end up in the cells with bunny ears again."

She smiles in a conciliatory manner at Havelock, sparing a brief amused look for Jack.

Somehow, the very blank look on Havelock's face manages to suggest that should Tim be in his bad graces, the retribution would not involve bunny ears.

Someone cackles unpleasantly from the shadows above.

Jack deals with the awkward moment by ignoring it.

"So, are you guys all od friends, or what?" he asks. "Don't think I've met any of you, for whatever reason. Jack Harkness."

"Hardly," says Tim, glancing moodily at Havelock.

"Shelley Winters there and I are - we just came in together. And I am Tim Jones, not happy to be here."
