You & Me - The Second Act - Chapter 4
so, here we are, ready for chapter four.
it's much thinking, not much happening.. but you'll get chapter five before the weekend starts, i promise!
Chapter four
When Asako sat in her car she could hardly concentrate on the traffic. Luckily she did not have a long way to drive home. Actually, you could not say that she was unhappy with the turn of events. When thinking about it, what other role had she expceted Osa to play? She had read the whole script multiple times and actually liked her role a lot, but her mind was so consumed by the fact that Osa would be there that it completely forgot to care about minor things like who would play the other roles.
Toni drove directly to his favourite restautrant and ordered some coffee. He debated in his mind to talk to someone else about his thoughts, or to keep them to himself for some time more to think them through. He was quite confused. It did not matter that Haruno-san was a women in a male role, he told himself; and he really believed it. So what was the problem then? Maybe it was their behaviour to each other that bothered him. They were supposed to have not met for several years he had heard, so why were they so close still? Or was it just a good show they had put on?
And why did he care anyway? Either he actually was envious of the smiles he had seen them share or he was getting into his role better and faster then he thought possible. Envy was actually really something that had bothered him a great deal today. The reaction of all these ambitious young actors was so needless. Why didn’t they just accept that Funabashi had his reasons for the cast of characters? He sighed and took a sip of his coffee. He really hoped they would be silent from now on, so they could create a good working atmosphere.
Asako still was so absentminded whe she arrived at home that she dropped her keys twice before getting the door open. Just for a moment there had been that thought about what if their roles would have been given to them the other way round, but she dismissed that right away. This wasn’t what she wanted. She made herself some jasmine tea and sat down on the sofa. While she held her mug with both hands she silently smiled to herself. Well, this could get very interesting indeed.
Osa stood at one of the windows on the top floor and looked down on the nightview of Tokyo. She could see the Rainbow Bridge quite close. She loved to see the lights of a big city from above.
“So, would you like to take this apartment or do you need some time to think it through?” The landlady asked.
Osa turned around to face her. “No, I already made my decision, I want to take it.” They talked about some details from the rental agreement and the old lady told Osa to drop by her office the next morning so she could sign the contract.
“When do you want to move in then?”
“As soon as possible.” Osa smiled at her. She got a little bit nervous and maybe a light shade of pink tainted her cheeks
“Ah, sure... well... it’s yours right after you signed.”
‘I wonder if the apartment Masa-chan wanted to visit was nice? I hope she’s not living in a hotel right now. Well, she arrived in Tokyo not long ago, so I suppose she had to go to a hotel after all. She doesn’t even like them, why did she not call and ask to stay with me for some weeks? Stupid! Really..’ Asako really had a hard time falling asleep. All she could think about was Osa.
Osa said good night and got into her car. ‘Really strange, that woman.’ she thought to herself. Was that in preparation for her role or something? She shook her head. In the past she had quite enjoyed it, but... did she now? Well, never mind that now. She had to think about what things from her old apartment she would want to have sent, since her new home already had most furniture she would need. Being ‘on the jump’ most of her life she did not have many things to move around, but there were some dear items she would not want to miss.
But some more days she could live without them, so no need to hurry and make calls in the middle of the night. First of all she really needed something to eat now. Since she was so hungry she could not even think about waiting for her food in a restaurant she decided to have some fast food. And then finally go back to her hotel room and have a nice long shower.
