Dear Asako,
Happy Anniversary, my love.
Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me. I really appreciate the small (and big) things you do. Even though it may appear that your affection for me is one-sided, I’m sure you know that it’s not.
I’m sorry that I can’t return your affections when we’re in public. I want so much to just be able to say loudly “I love you” when you appear to jokingly proclaim it to me in front of others. I hate to have to reject you when you ask me to hug you … just because I’m afraid of what others might say.
I’m amazed at how you put up with it all and love me the way you do. Some day, I hope I can do the same for you.
