... So while I don't have one particular favorite Korean actress, I do favor a few... like Yoon Jung Hee and Choi Ji Woo. When it comes to the small screen, I don't particularly like actresses because of their acting chops. It's very simple for me: the more I like a character, the more I like the actress.
Yoon Jung Hee is one of those actress who people say tends to be very stiff when acting. Personally, I don't see it. Of course, I don't claim to be very knowledgeable when it comes to good or bad acting. The thing about Yoon Jung Hee, however, is that I tend to really like the characters she portrays and considering she's been the female lead in two of my favorite dramas (Dear Heaven and Family's Honor) I do like her a lot.
She's very recently returned to the small screen since Family's Honor in SBS's Smile Mom playing the character of Kang Shin Young(강신영). She is a devoted wife who wholeheartedly supports her politician husband until she finds out about his affair with his first love. Then she challenges her husband in the election and achieves victory.
I won't be watching it.
Yeah, the whole point of this post is to say that while I like Yoon Jung Hee, I won't be watching Smile Mom, not even for her. Reasons?
1. She's not the lead.
2. The plot scares me. I can take her not being the lead, but I can't take her being cheated on. Yeah, she'll probably move on and find a great guy but uh-uh. Not for me.
3. 50 episodes of fastforwarding to her scenes is going to get mighty tiring after a while.
4. Turns out screenwriter Kim Soon Ok is very known for her makjang-style writing seeing as she's the writer of Temptation of Wife and Temptation of an Angel. Even my morbid curiosity with the "Temptation" series won't make me see this drama.
So... I'm sorry, Yoon Jung Hee, but I won't watch your first drama after a long while even if you do look pretty in the pics below. I am, however, looking forward to your next one so don't take too long, huh?
